Missing Roof Antenna

I have a factory CB radio installed, so that's one of the antennas. Another should be for FM. Those 2 are on the driver's side.

There's another stub for an antenna on the passenger's side. The little Sirius antenna and the GPS antenna (I assume) are over there, too.

Could this missing antenna be a separate AM antenna? My AM reception stinks.

My memory is so poor that I can't remember if there was an antenna there or not. One of the antennas on the driver's side can screw right into that spot.

My suggestion is to unscrew and trial: that is, unscrew what you've got and screw it in where you don't got...see if there is a difference. I have found that those little rubber stubs mean no difference in reception in my coach. The CB whip antenna makes a difference, that's all.

Hi 69RoadRunner,
That antenna is, most likely, for surround sound radio broadcasts. It works with the other antenna on the driver's side. On the AM reception, you are correct, it stinks. I have never figured out how to improve it. It's been so long since I listened to anything but XM radio it no longer matters if the other bands work or not.

Thanks! I'd like to find a replacement. It's too hard to tell online if an antenna has the right female threading from the pictures I've seen.

Radio Shack's web site didn't have anything that looks promising. I'll have to take the one from the driver's side that also fits in to some parts stores to see if they have anything that will work.

Consider calling Newmar. They will know what you need and can sell you an antenna. It saves running around to different stores.

That's what I did. He knew the part number right away (34782). The price was high, but I guess that's what you get for convenience.

It also won't be in stock until the end of the month.

I lost one of my rubber ducks and bought one from Newmar to replace it. They sell you the whole antenna coax and all for about $22. All you need is the rubber duck if you can find one like from some other source. All the rubber ducks are the same except the CB one. If you look at the rubber duck you will see they use an adapter to screw it on. I was told the extra rubber duck is a boooster or some thing like that for the radio.

You should be able to find the replacement antenna in most any auto parts store, Checkers, O'rielly's, Walmart, etc. They come on a card blister pac and cost anywhere from $7.00 to $13.00. I found the less costly at Walmart, but only found then one time. I put a piece of clear plastic hose over the antenna where it breaks and then fill the void with black RTV.
