Modify Front TV Cabinet 2005 KSDP

Has anyone here done any modifications to reduce the size of the front TV cabinet on their RV? I am sure that there are many stories of bumps and bruises from them. With a new flat screen there is no need for the bulky box so I would like to trim it down flush with the cabinets on the driver side. That would reduce the amount the cabinet protrudes into the room by about 4" which would be a significant improvement. I am wondering what hidden problems I might run in to.

The fabric used for the ceiling will be punctured and have impressions from the TV cabinet. Other than fabricating issues, there would only be surprises limited in scope.

At the recent International Rally I saw a 2000 DSDP that the owner had lessened the depth of the cabinets. The TV cabinet had the height decreased so it came below the cabinet line only a few inches instead of the nearly 12 inches to accommodate the old tube TV. Looked nice and opened up the space. While he was at it he installed a full-width MCD shade for the windshield.

This was my inspiration for doing similiar. This was taken before I put in dark piece of plexiglas in middle cabinet.

Very nice, some interesting ideas. I would want my TV be visible from both sides of the coach as we often travel with my brother and his wife. I have been thinking of a pop up TV combined with a swing out or something of that nature.
