I just found that the replacement taillights lens are from a 93-97 Ford Ranger!! on a 04 model year coach. The headlights are from a 98-02 Mercury Grand Marquis... go figure.
Why would anyone put parts on a coach that are 6 or 7 years old to start with.

Could be like anything else hold down costs, car MFG'S have surplus parts from former year models so RVmfg's pick them up.
Saw Lincoln tail lights on the rear of a 04 Essex.

Please use regular case letters rather than upper case, as upper case lettering is a form of yelling on websites.
Thanks

Part of the reason I mention this is that the auto industry is required by law to provide parts for 7 years after the last date of manufacture according to what I have been told. The RV industry is not bound by the same regs. So, if the after market does not provide them and Newmar is not required to provide them (04+7=2011) where do you get spare parts. In some states you can't put the vehicle on the road with out "proper" taillights.

My Kwikee step motor went out last week and it was going to take 2 weeks for a replacement. A motor from a Ford Crown Vic 1990 LF window is an exact replacement and a lot less money. I will see how it works this week.

Every RV manufacturer does this to a degree as I've seen tail and head lights from various vehicles used on many different coaches...
As long as the parts are available within reason, I don't see an issue with this.
Me thinks sometimes we may carry the "Ford versus Chevy" thing too far?

Bob,
This is not a Ford or Chevy issue per si... I see it more as what parts were used to build the coach. I really think Newmar and the other OEM's should provide a parts list with each coach.
My point is that Ford motor Co is not required by law to stock parts for 93-97 Ford Ranger. Should I need taillights I could be up the creek. Also, OEM markup is a bit steep. My headlights are $94 plus shipping. I can get them on line for $45 and half the shipping cost.
Bsinmich,
I have heard that the step motor was a window motor of a Ford product.
