Motor for front steps

As we were getting ready to leave our last campground, DW noticed that the steps did not retract.

I didn't have much time to diagnose the problem, so I pulled out the pin which connects the rotating arm to the steps and wire tied the steps closed.

After arriving at our new campground, I tested the motor and found that it was bad.

Newmar wants over $260 for a replacement motor and the original motor manufacturer (AM Equipment) is about the same. That sounds very expensive to me, so I would like to ask the members here if they have an alternate motor that would work.

First picture below shows the label on the motor and the second shows the entire unit, including the arm gear box.

Thank you for your help.

Got my motor and gear box from Amazon using the above parts numbers. Think it was about $150 total.

Motor for front steps

Sadly, these parts are fairly well made except for one cheesy plastic gear. We found you have to wait for the steps to stop moving before stepping on them or that plastic gear will fail pretty quickly.
