Motorhome to top pike's peak

Many years ago we drove our 28 foot motorhome to the top of pike's peak, going up was ok but comeing down was a thrill.I remember ice on most of the corners and it seemed like you were going over the side every time you hit the ice.My wife and daughter layed on the floor all the way down.I was wondering how many others made that trip.

Hi greezykid,
I've made the climb in the toad, but never in a coach. Even with ideal road conditions, for me the climb and decent is wear and tear, I'd rather not put on the coach.

I had a late friend years ago who put a unique twist on the "thrill" to which you refer.

He was 73 or 74 and had suffered heart problems in the past, DW was in her 60s but was in the gym every day. I mean, she was a confident hardbody who ran busnesses, drove the RV as well as any guy.

Let's just say he over-exerted himself on the summit...

DW lept into the seat, raced down the mountain in the MH while my late buddy teetered on the brink of cardiac arrest. Docs said he'd actually had a mild heart attack, ended up having bypass surgery out of the deal.

And, a great story to tell their friends!!

Hi 99-Am.Star,
Yep, there is a charge to drive the highway to the top. Go to City of Colorado Springs - Hours/Rates for information.
