Motorized Stairs Stopped Working...

Hi All, I have a 2016 DSDP and the motorized stairs stopped working correctly. Does anyone know who made the stairs? So far I haven't found any markings and Newmar is closed - probably to Tuesday.

It is kind of a shame because a fairly robust, mostly metal, design was turned into a POS because of ONE cheesy plastic gear. This gear is driven by a metal worm gear attached to the motor thereby guaranteeing the stairs will fail long before they should.

This is what the plastic gear looks like from the top...

This pic shows what the gear teeth should look like...

and this one shows what it looks like now that the plastic teeth have been obliterated...

I'm hoping I can just order a bunch of these gears from the stair manufacturer as Newmar will probably only sell the whole assembly.

The assembly has the following text "366043 ASSY STEP "A" CURVED, 214-1001 motor".

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Kwickee step. Should be a sticker pasted on underside of top piece that bolts to the rv.

The has to be a reason the teeth sheared off.

makariosrv.com has break down of step parts

This topic was just posted last week and I printed out the page with what should be the correct gear. There should be three nylon barrels that support the gear, they go bad too! This gear has 62 splines.

The motor used for the steps is usually an automotive power window motor, so you might save some $$$ from an auto parts store versus Newmar store.

Just saw what you're needing on ebay for $17.00+ with free 2-day shipping.

Actually, my gears look different and there are no plastic bumpers.

The manufacturer’s sticker must have fallen off, but now that I know it was Kwikee, I found out that 366043 was a Kwikee part number and was replaced by Kwikee Part Number 1101428. Found on Amazon for $76.39

Perhaps this replacement will have gears that look like those shown by DS Don.

Thanks to everyone for your help.
