Mountain Aire vs Dutch Star

I'm seeking owner opinions on these two coaches.
2013 Mountain Aire 4018 or 4038 vs 2015 Dutch Star 4018.
What are the major differences between these two coaches?
Upon research, it appears I should be able to purchase either coach for about the same price in similar condition. I realize finding just the right coach may take some time to locate.
Thank you,
CCRider

The differences between the Newmar models e.g. Ventana to Dutch Star to Mountain Aire, etc. are the amenities and some slightly different floor plans offered in higher level trim packages (for example the 2015 Dutch Star 4018 and 2015 Ventana 4037 have essentially the same floor plan except the Dutch Star removes a couch from the living room area in favor of a fireplace).

Since my coach is a wonderful "toy" for my family of 15 (wife, three kids and their spouses plus seven grandkids) especially for LSU football weekends, the wife and I chose a less expensive Ventana LE without all of the high end amenities to assure our kids / grandkids could enjoy our coach and not be fearful of getting light color fabric dirty or breaking a high cost amenity.

Newmar makes great coaches. Your choice will come come down to amount of $ you want to spend and the amenities you desire. Good luck and have fun shopping. Let the forum know which coach you purchase!

I think the Mountain aire might have 3 roof top A/Cs. Not sure about the 2013 models. Makes a difference in high heat climates

We had to make that same choice; we didn't want to go larger than the 40'.
The MA has 3 AC's so that was the first consideration. Along with that, you get a much larger CCC in the MA and a larger engine. Also the generator on the MA is on a hydraulic slide. All of that at a larger price of course, but in the end, we thought it was worth it and ordered the Mountain Aire.

You may want to refer to the features page from the brochures (still available from Newmar on their website). Things show up first on the high line coaches, then in a few years they trickle down.

A lot of good advice above for how folks made their decisions but you have to “time shift” for the real story.

E.g., today’s MA at 40’ does have 3 A/C units and the DS has 2; but did the 40’ MA from the year you are looking at have 3?

Generator size is another thing besides finish material that may be upgraded in the MA.
