Mounting front license plate on MADP

Well, the time has come to put real license plates on the new MADP 4047. It looks like Newmar has provided two painted bolts on the front of the coach where the plate is supposed to be mounted. That said, it looks like the plate just bolts up against the front cap. I'm not very comfortable with that as dirt and grit will probably get trapped back there and the paint will get scratched.

Any ideas for ways to neatly mount a front plate? And...yes...my state requires one to be mounted.

Jim-

Here's how I'd do it. Pick up some thick soft washers at the hardware store, along with a pair of nylon washers. Sandwich the nylon washers between the soft ones. Slide these on the bolts, add license plate. Top with stainless steel washers and lock nuts.

This assumes the bolts are long enough for all the stuff. If they are not, you can leave out the nylon washer and second soft washer.

On my 2017 MADP those are not bolts. They are painted decorative plugs that just push into the mounting holes -- not likely to hold a real license plate.

Yes, I found that out earlier this evening. They appear to cover threaded 1/4-20 inserts. I will get a couple of 1/4-20 by 1" stainless steel pan head screws tomorrow, along with some soft, rubber fender washers and regular SS flat washers. I have a polished SS frame already, so should be able to make it all work.

Thanks for the comments from you and Mark.

I had no mounting holes for the front plate on my new coach, I took an L shaped piece of 1/4" thick ABS plastic just shorter than the number plate, mounted the plate to the angle and bolted the plastic angle to the bottom flange of the cap. Nothing touches the front of the cap and you can't see the stainless bolts underneath.

I just put it in a cabinet inside and don't worry about it.
