OK since I didn't have enough to do with installing the Koni's, I started to tackle the TV mount. I really can't believe the quality of this item for less than 40 bucks! (thanks Neal). Anyway, I solved the magnet problem using a couple of the spacers they included with the mount. Mounted them to contact the two arms inside and it works like it was made that way. Sorry the pics are sideways.... again....

So, the magnets are to keep the mount collapsed while the door is shut and you are traveling? Strong enough? Where on the mount do the magnets get mounted? I think I see the magnets under LostinFla's picture - underneath the chrome plate?

And the problem with some type of positive latch is unlatching it when the TV is put away? What if some foam was put on the lid and the lid kept the TV tight to the back? Maybe four poly "volcanoes" that push the TV screen in four corners (softly)?

Now this is where Newmar falls down. How hard would it be to spec out a bracket that tilts downward. There is no way there would be an increase in cost.

To bad there isn't a punishment system, where every bad idea or failure to change to something better, is incorporated into management's daily life and they're forced to use it until they fix it.

Take all their home TV's and point them at a 45 degree angle toward the ceiling.

Nice work! I'll look at adding the magnet as well. I have to think if there are other ways of securing the TV in place as I'm not a big fan of magnets being near electronics such as a TV. But the magnet option we know works.

You're assuming they have TV's! Or even electricity. Amish culture...

As those of us that have worked with the TV mount know, it's something Newmar fabricates. So they would need to redesign it to a tilting system which I doubt they would do. They should really just source a 3rd party mount such as the one I described but then again, that may increase the cost of your coach $15! I also don't know why they went with some side arm system other than simpler design. Moot, we found something better. Go for it.

Neal, the stock bracket has the aluminum piece that supports the tv higher, does the new bracket go up nearly as high. They use this same aluminum piece on the overhead tv

I was thinking to use the existing flat mounting plate with the aluminum in front of the new mount.

You're talking about the top bar for additional support. The bracket I used uses the standard VESA mounting, i.e. 4 bolts and that's it. I personally don't believe the top bar is needed, I'm not sure why Newmar uses that. It could be good and bad. It could prevent vibration, it could also add vibration by transferring more from the coach rolling earthquake to the TV so flip the coin as to whether it's a benefit or not.

With the TV stowed and secured such as with the magnets, I think that should be sufficient.

Long story longer, this top bar really makes things difficult. If you want to replace a TV, inside or out, the VESA mounting bolts should suffice.

That plate caused me problems last time I tried to do this because it blocked ports on the TV if I recall. It's a custom design for the TV and mounting system. I can't remember the specifics. As I changed the TV I didn't have to deal with what Newmar used, Jim may be able to comment better in what he did with that adhesive attached top bar or anything with the prior Newmar mount.

Yes the aluminum piece, it maybe be there because of how high the arm is mounted to the TV
