Good point. Probably due to their home made mount. Just a terrible design to me, when extended your TV center is now mount center which is left of box. New mount I'm using is centered in box and mounts like all other TV's in the world.

If they rotated their mount system 90 degrees they could probably solve problems. Elbow at top instead of left. Nope, it would hit the ceiling.

Your point of out sourcing, I have to feel that if we can buy your mount on Amazon for $39, Newmar could probably purchase them in quantity (1000 pieces at a time) for maybe $25 bucks or less, they are still cutting, welding and powder coating what they make plus materials. This goes to our other conversations about smart use of resources and automation.

Concur. Making this vs. sourcing 3rd party is just not smart to me. And the design of the mount is proven and so much more flexible. I guess I'll add this suggestion to the innovative thoughts thread to hopefully get their attention hoping they read at least that one thread here.

That's my guess. They didn't want that extended bracket to flex. I didn't see a use for it as the original TV is very light weight. I just used the standard 4 bolt mount.

Update, last night I installed the Amazon bracket that Neal recommend, as stated it is a heavy well made bracket. The tilt angel is very good. Now the negative, on the stock Sony TV, the HDMI 1 and the Toslink port are located on the back of the TV directly under the vertical mounting arm of the mounting bracket. So I will not be able to use either one. I have only been using one of the HDMI ports, but will miss the Toslink. This is a terrible location for these ports IMO

I think that's why my first attempt at changing the mount out failed, the Sony port locations.

Sounds like a good time to get the measuring tape out and upgrade your external TV bay to a nicer larger TV. I only know Samsungs but they all have ports on the outer sides in the back so they don't interfere with mounts.

I have a 46" which fits perfect in that bay, just sayin... (I'm sure you can find them cheap on CL/Ebay as they have terrible resale and everyone wants the latest thing, if you don't want new)

Neal have you modified the mount to latch for travel?

Yesterday I added the magnets like Jim. I did drive without the magnets and it did not move but hey, we have magnets, why not use them for added security? So I did.

Was also thinking about doing the same, just ran out of time last night. Thanks

This is great, thank you, I just ordered the mount because the one Newmar uses drives me nuts.

Does anyone know if the 2019 4K Sony are any easier to mount?

All TV's are easy to mount with the proper TV wall mount. Newmar created their own, for some reason we will never know. TV's have a standard "VESA" 4 hole pattern. Buy a nice wall mount and you will enjoy it without the weird side pivot nonsense Newmar fabricated.

I ordered the one that Neil suggested. I used the aluminum bar in the same place and the connections were tight but it worked out great. Eazy to do on mine. Thanks for the upgrades from Neil, I have used several as mention on this forum. I believe Dutch Star Don has a bunch on here also that I have used. Thanks all.
