Muffler installation

A couple months ago, I mentioned I installed a new muffler on my Mountain Aire, but didn't follow up. Here is the follow up story. I purchased this Mountain Aire knowing I had some issues to deal with, the exhaust system being one of them. Here is the old muffler after removal

It had a number of leaks and was about to come apart where the exhaust pipe comes into it.v

Guess I need to read some more on inserting images! While they aren't showing in the thread, you can at least click on them to get to the picture.

Had to modify an elbow to make it work, increase from 4" to 5" and a little shorter.

Parts for the installation came from Summit Racing.

WLK-21835 Resonator 5" $70.99
WLK-41769 Elbow 5" $43.99
SUM-652246 Exhaust adapter 4" to 5" $16.99
WLK-33224 Exhaust band clamp 4" $11.99
WLK-35775 Exhaust U clamp 5" $7.99 X2
WLK-29308 Stack angle cut chrome 5" X36" $80.99

Had to cut the original forward hangar off, but used the original aft hanger

So for just around $250 I have a new exhaust from the down pipe back.

Haven’t had it out on the road yet, still working on other stuff, and MD has a silly non commercial Class B requirement. Can’t get my permit until oct. 19 due to Covid. Then need to wait 14 days before even scheduling the road test!

I copied this from some folks on the American Eagle forum. They indicated it is a little throated, but not objectionable.
