My cooling system burps out a bit of fluid after a run,
My 350 Cummins, in a spartan chassis. with the side radiator, lets out a bit of fluid after every run where it gets up to full operating temp. It's just maybe 1/2 cup. It hits the ground inboard of the radiator, and about the middle of it side to side. There is no residual dripping. No wet hoses. No active leaks while the engine is running. In about 5k miles, it has dropped almost a gal. I don't know a whole lot about the detailed workings of the system, so I'm just asking where I should start.

….if you have a pressurized expansion tank [not an overflow tank], and it has a sight-glass, you have to check the coolant level when engine is at ops temp....sounds like you might be overfilling the system....

If the "burp" is oil, it could be coming from the hydraulic driven fan motor or its hose connections.

Thanks. It does have the sight glass bubble about 1/3 of the height of the tank. It also has what I thought was an overflow tank. Is the level supposed to just cover the sight glass when warm?

Thanks. It's definitely coolant, but I will watch for oil.

….this varies by rig but a pressurized expansion tank is exactly that--designed for coolant expansion when hot. Not an exact science so if visible in the sight-glass--its fine. Caution--some sight-glasses have been known to leak/flood--giving the appearance that the tank is at the proper level. Adding overflow tanks to expansion tanks are not needed if you properly maintain the expansion tank level--IMHO.

Thank you. So if the sight bubble is green when at operating temp, we will just keep an eye on it.

Correct--that is how it has worked for my 400ISL for the last 17 years....conversely, the sight glass should be clear when the engine is cold....if it remains green, the system is overfilled, or the sight glass may have flooded....
