Does anyone use any kind of lubricant on the filter end or the plug to make them lock in place any easier than the force it normally takes in removing or installing them. Always afraid something is going to break off considering how hard it is to install or remove these two items.

I don't. I just wet the plug and twist it on.

Don’t know if this will help you but I’ll tell you what the Whirlpool did in the coach in our signature. Same symptoms as you’re having with our fridge temperature set at 36°. Changed the settings to 38° and water started flowing again.

I had the same problem and it turned out to be a leaking reservoir. The reservoir was leaking and it would not hold pressure to move the water to the dispenser. I replaced the reservoir and solved the problem

Not having very good luck getting repairs done, and the Newmar coaches seem to be requiring lots of repairs. And with reports on DEF and windshield curtain problems looks like I'm possibly facing more trouble.
Sounds like your water valve. If you have an ice maker you have two of them. Or some of them are doubles. Anyways, have changed mine in the house and the RV. A lil more work moving the RV fridge out of its hole. Definitly a DIY job. Unless you don't do DIY.

To all the new posters, the problem has been discovered and corrected. It was his bypass plug that didn't allow any water to get to the door or the ice maker.
Unusual but now corrected with a new filter in place of the bypass plug.

Do you have a filter? If yes when you install it it pushes a plastic pin which then allows water to go through. Pin wears out and no water. Easy to replace just check Amazon.
