My old 1999 Dutch Star DP 3884

My old 1999 Dutch Star DP 3884
I am planning on going from Michigan to Florida this winter. What things should I replace, look at, before the long ride.
I think everything works, tires are 2012.

Is a 1999 to old to be driving that far?

Should be a general maintenance check. Belts, hoses, fluids, filters, batteries, slack adjusters, lubrication points. Although tires are 2012 I would still have them looked at. You don't mention how many miles are on your coach so someone with the DP experience could add some things to the list.
As far as on board items roof A/C, micro, fridge, well those can go at any time. If it's been well maintained only you can kind of roll the dice on those items. Being the year it is anything can go South at any time so you just have to be prepared for anything that may go wrong. I've seen a lot older coaches than yours on the road.
I see from your profile you are from MI. You just say West (side?). If you're around Grand Rapids there is a Newmar dealer there (Midway RV) who could assist you or do a once over on the coach side of things. I don't think they would handle any chassis items but being it's a Freightliner there should be a facility near by that could take a look at it. I'm just suggesting this in case you don't feel you could handle any of the items that need to be looked at.
Fuel her up and hit the highway. Have a great trip and be safe.

My old 1999 Dutch Star DP 3884

We trusted ours from Northern Michigan to California and many places in between this last winter. Have been doing it for the last 5 years. Maintenance is the key word. 1999 4080 MADP with 85,000 ish miles. We plan to use her for another 5-7 years. Also what the previous poster said.

We have Newmar coach's older than yours on the road as long as you keep it maintained you will have it to travel for years.
All the links below in my signature have answers for you and you can find more info for your coach in this link. You have three pages of TSB's.

The first reply has most of what I'd recommend, but I would also add to inspect the suspension air bags for dry rot.

We drove our 99 dutch star to florida, California, Arizona and many other places and never a mechanical problem at all and that is with 150,000 miles on it. Good luck and have fun
