Watch what the Hartford does on renewals. They start off reasonable and then start jacking it up on each renewal. They did it to us, both our mothers and some other people we know. We got it through AARP and with no claims (ever) it more than doubled in 3 years. I get a good laugh everytime I see one of their "look how much you'll save commercials" Yeah, wait till you renew. Also as soon as you tell them you're cancelling they IMMEDIATELY report to your state that you no longer have insurance on your vehicles even when you tell them you're switching to someone with better rates. Never again!

They did that to us as well. About 30% increase the second year. Only we dropped them because of the tactic.

We have had a full-timer RV policy with National General for the last two years and the annual rate has only gone up about $20 or so. They just gave us a 15% Covid-19 rebate on our last quarterly payment. We have never had a claim and are happy with them.

You might spell check your 1st 2 words. Your state may be different, but I haven't seen a major preferred carrier's Umbrella covering excess UMBI
in California for decades. There are probably quite a few more drivers here than in any other state. There are roughly 40,000,000 living here with something like 25,000,000 vehicles...and an attorney in every other block doentown.

I guess it is different from customer to customer. We've had The Hartford for 6 years now. Here is our experience:
- Year one, Changed over from Regressive thru USAA. Good rates, one windshield claim (approximately $2000.00)
- Year two, rate went up less than 1%, had claim for $13,290.73, excellent service, quick settlement at more than fair terms.
- Year three, rate went up almost 12%
- Year four, rate went up 19%
- Year five, rate went up 1%
- Year six, (just renewed) rate went DOWN 22%
The overall result is that my insurance now in year six is only 6% more than year one. Now understand that although my coach is 6 years older, and payoff will be less in the event of a total due to depreciated value, I think they've been more than fair!
Regressive thru USAA almost doubled rate 2nd year, no claims, accidents, or tickets. Changed to The Hartford, and have been happy with them . . . . although I still compare insurance rates annually, but no one else has ever come close.
