Need Help Please Replacing Microwave Receptacle
Our microwave was intermittently not working. Unplugging and plugging it back in or wiggling the plug fixed the issue. I purchased a replacement single 15A receptacle from Newmar. I have the old one out but am having trouble attaching the wires to the new one. I have tried forcing the wires into the slots and also tried feeding the wires through the larger opening at the bottom of the slots.
Has anyone done this? Is there an easier way to attach the wires or do I need to find someone with stronger hands than mine? Thanks for any suggestions.

They use a clamping tool to snap the back on that type of receptcal.
I believe you can use 2 pair of big slip joint pliers to do the same.
You do have the back piece, yes ?
If mine, I would pick up a plastic junction box and standard house outlet. I know they don't fit in some spots but the microwave outlet is out of site anyway.

Thanks, but it's not the back I'm having trouble with. It's the wires. I can't get the wires attached.

Snapping the back on pushs the wires in place.
You lay them over the contacts, place the back on and clamp it down.

If the back is designed to force the wires into place then I would try that first.
If that doesn't work,
And the face of the outlet is flat on a strong surface, try using two pairs of needle nose pliers, one on each side of the wire with the connector in the middle and push straight down, even and hard.

I hate those things. In my opinion they should be outlawed. I know, they have been used successfully for years but the lack of a captured contact leaves to possibility sporadic contact and a dangerous condition sometime down the road. I’ve had similar contact issues with a couple of mine. I first tried replacing one with what was used but I couldn’t get the wires installed with reliability. I’m sure with the installation tool that the installer used it is a piece of cake. I ended up throwing it in the trash and installed a residential type receptacle with screws and a “works” box. So much better connectivity and peace of mind.

I've done several of these, they are common to RV's and mobile homes. You separate the wires about 2", do not strip them. Take each individual wire and push them onto the brass-looking connections until they are about in the middle. Do not press them all the way down as they will be loose, ask me how I know .
where they use a fancy tool to install the wire. FWIW they do not rely on just the back to install the wires.

Thank You! Thank You!
Thanks, everybody! We managed to set the wires and clamp the back on. The microwave is working again! If it fails again, we will replace with a regular receptacle.
