New Aire WiFiRanger no longer see cell hotspot

Just arrived at a campground and the wifiranger pro doesn't see my iPad mini or iPhone hotspots that both previously worked multiple times without issue. The wifiranger is picking up many signals from the campground and other campers, but not the iPad and iPhone that are already registered with it.

I turned the wifiranger off and on twice, and rebooted the iPad and the Mac I use to connect.

Has anyone had this issue and figured out a fix?

Thanks,
Ken

Did you make sure that you have the "personal hotspot" turned on on the devices? I found that every once in a while the hotspot gets turned off on my iPhone.

I'd try connecting to it manually -- in other words, specify the SSID instead of selecting it from the list.

FWIW I spoke with Winegard support today. I had to leave a message and wait for them to call back. They helped me solve a software update that went bad.

Got it working. I connected the Apple laptop to the iPad Mini hotspot, then disconnected from that and connected to the Wi-Fi ranger. For some reason this caused the iPad mini to show up in the Wi-Fi ranger control panel. All is good for now. Thanks.

I'm not sure why you would call Winegard for support with a WiFiRanger. Maybe your predictive keyboard typed it for you?

Since you are the WiFiRanger ambassador, thought I'd ask - do they do any trades for an LTE equip'd unit? The 2018 NADPs seem to come with the non-LTE versions. Would be nice not to have to tether a phone or get a USP LTE adaptor.

To my knowledge the LTE units are not currently available. I'm not sure what the delay is due to.

I apologize for this incorrect response. The LTE models are somewhat "buried" on the website as options on the SKYPROPACK which includes a SkyPro and a Core. I looked at the website quickly and overlooked where the LTE's had been stashed. Sorry.

As for whether or not a trade-in would be possible, that's something can check on for you but I wouldn't have high hopes that it will be permitted. You "paid" an OEM price for the Ranger you have. The cost difference between that and a new LTE unit would be substantial. However, if you wish I can check on it for you.

Thanks, I’ll just tether my phone or get a USB LTE option.
