NEW BAY STAR
I RV with a Rockwood 2703ws travel trailer and am considering a Newmar Bay Star 3401. Standard equipment includes one 13,500 btu ac. and 30 amp service. I don't know if I should go with the 50 amp 2 ac option. I don't think I have ever seen a Class A of this length with only one AC.

We had a 32 foot 2009 Baystar with one AC unit. It struggled to keep the coach cool, it did but ran a lot. If I had it to do over I would opt for two AC units. We are from Florida. When we were back in the Midwest it wasn't as big an issue. The Baystar was a great unit.

Welcome Joe to the forum and irv2.
Here is a Brochure and Owners Guide for you.
Here is a link to everything Newmar.
When and if you get a Newmar the links below in my signature have many more for your to be Newmar.
One AC maybe ample for a 34' coach if your up north but if you live in the south 2 would probably be best, the 30 amp service will only handle one AC in a entry level coach that some people would want. The 50amp option supply's the two AC's.
The Newmars are well insulated so warm in winter and cool in the summer.
Enjoy the forum and good luck in your quest.

I would go with the two AC's and 50 amp service. I'm not sure if what you are looking at has the heat pump, but I would get that too. With the 50 amp service you will be able to run everything without worry and the two AC's will keep you nice and cool as well as nice and warm if you get the heat pumps.

Better to have and not need, then need and not have.

We had a 2002 4090 Dutch Star with two 13.5 heat pumps. Ran both of them quite often on 30 amps with no problems. In 90°+ heat in Yuma we did just fine with only one running.
We did have an optional roof insulation package and dual pane windows though.

We have a 2014 Bay Star 3301 with the 50 amp - 2 AC/Heat pumps. It is definitely worth the money. We were camping until November last year and if the truth be told, the last time the furnace kicked on was during the PDI in August . The AC side, had no problems with the Florida heat. It also gives you the ability to have the bedroom area as 1 temp and the main coach area another. As an added benefit, with the 50 amp service, you will not have to concern yourself with monitoring power usage. Although I believe coaches with the 30 amp service still have an EMS system. IMHO, it is always better to HAVE and not need, rather than Need and not have.

My fat fingers got in the way. We have a 3103 not a 3301. The 50 amp Sevice and twin a/c heat pumps is the wat to go

I guess I should add to my post above that we did NOT have an EMS and still never had any problems on a 30 amp pedestal. Just had to remember not to use a hair dryer or coffee pot if both heart pumps were on.
