New Canyon Star 3911

My wife & I are negotiating with Dick Gore RV in Jacksonville, FL on a Canyon Star 3911 coach. This is Newmar's handicapped accessible configured coach.

My question: does anyone have experience with the Canyon Star line, especially the 3911?

My wife does all of the driving & some of the maintenance, the rest being done by mechanics. My disability doesn't permit much physical help. So I need a coach that's reliable.

BTW, we're not newbies. This will be our 4th class A, but first Newmar. Others have been Tiffin & Winnebago.

Any information is helpful & appreciated.

Welcome to the forum Jim.
Here is a link to the coach your thinking about and if you did not know we have Handicap forum located here.
To give you some idea about a CS Coach and how it applies to the road this thread will help, its for background on chassis and operations of features in a non-handicap coach.
Good luck in your quest.

Newmar has a great reputation and that's a very nice coach you're looking at! You'll likely have a punch list, as with any new coach that you buy, so I wouldn't worry too much there. Test everything you can, right out the gate before you travel at any considerable length.

Aim for at least 25% off of the sticker price (and anything more than that is even better). If you want to price-compare, there are a few other dealers in FL that carry that line (Northtrail RV comes to mind....)

It's a personal choice, but you may also want to negotiate in an extended warranty, if that helps to give peace of mind beyond the standard one year term.

Also, if you don't already have one, a good roadside assistance program (like Coachnet, or Good Sam) would also be a good idea so that if anything happens on the road, your wife will have some help. (I also like to add in additional fire extinguishers since a new rig usually only comes with one small one by the door. Can never be too safe there.)

Let us know how you make out (hopefully bringing home that nice new Canyon Star!)

Jim T - While I don't have experience with the particular model you're looking at, I do have almost 4 years experience with a Canyon Star and can state it is one of the best gas coaches on the market. We have had a few minor problems with ours, most handled during the warranty period, but compared to a Winnebago coach I owned previously the CS is head and shoulders better quality. Good luck in your search and let us know if and when you pull the trigger on a new coach.

We have been Rving for over 30 years, ALl motorhomes. Many Brands, makes and models. We are Very happy with our CS 3940. You can look at several threads I have started on this coach. I am Most impressed with many of the design and finishing thatg Newmar has put into this coach. Shoot me a line if you have any questions.
