New Canyon Star discount to expect?

We have been researching the 2018 class A market a lot..... and I like the Canyon Star the best overall so far. I am wondering with the average MSRP around 200k, can a 30% discount still be expected from most dealers?

Anything in the 25% to 30% range would be considered a good deal. 30% would be on the high end, but it can't hurt to ask for more when negotiating.

Discount

If you find a dealer who gives 30% on Canyon Stars please share it with the group. Typical would be in the 24% range with one or two percent more for a unit they are trying to move at the end of the model year or a less popular layout. As an aside we absolutely love our Canyon Star. No plans to sell or trade anytime in the foreseeable future. Too much more exploring to do. Good luck to you and safe travels.

When we were looking last fall I was told by more than one dealer they couldn't even place an order for a new rig for us at that time due to the production slots being sold out for the model year already.
If sales are that brisk I can't see how anyone (or why anyone) would discount a rig like they were doing nine months to a year ago.
I know it affected the prices of used rigs we saw on dealer's lots. All of a sudden their newer used rigs were like gold and the lack of discounting reflected it.

After viewing several Fleetwoods and Tiffin models, we were impressed with the 3953 Canyon Star. It had everything we were looking for.

I think when you look you will find that the Canyon Stars tend to hold their value pretty good. I think that is partly because the Canyon Star is the top of the line gas model for Newmar. For pretty much the same floorplan/amenities the jump from that to the equivalent diesel Ventana is about 100K more.

When we were looking for ours we looked at three used, 1 year old Canyon Stars with the same floorplan/amenities that were actually more that what we paid for a new one. They wouldn't budge on the price, and I know that one of them sold for the asking price, as it was advertised as supposedly a reduced sales price.

We are in the same boat as LongDog we love ours and have no plans to sell it or buy anything else. It's a great MH.

Canyon Star

We are also looking at the same 3953 floor plan in the Canyon Star. What are the biggest pros and cons of the Canyon Star?

And are there any rumors of major changes for the 2019 Canyon Star?

The only word of caution with all gas coaches is cargo capacity (NCC). Often times it’s much lower than the printed specs. The specs are typically with no options which seem to add weight. Ours says 5,400 in the spec sheet, after built with options the actual was 1,300lbs less.

I believe in the CS line up the 3710 has the most capacity. Our actual capacity is 4,100 lbs, when fully loaded ready to travel we still have 1,900 lbs unused, I like not being near full capacity. Our old coach we were literally within 100 lbs of being over weight.

That's one of the main reasons we ended up ordering a Canyon Star rather than a Bay Star.

StevL is correct about NCC. Thats why we ordered our Bay Star on an upgraded 24K chassis. It increased our NCC significantly.

But also you have to watch GCW. In a Canyon Star, if you load to GVW (26K) you will only have 4K for towing. Otherwise you have to start subtract from your carrying capacity.
