As per this info if your Rig or Rig and towed is over 24,250 lbs you will need a Class 'D' license.
If your Towed is over 10,140 lbs you will need a class 'A' license!!!

This rule applies to residents only. So come on up, or are we too nice for you. Or is it that you feel too safe walking the street?

Guys, let's not forget about reciprocity...
From the documents quoted above we have...
"Driver licence reciprocity
Ontario permits an out-of-province driver to drive a vehicle or combination of vehicles in Ontario if the driver is properly licensed to drive the vehicle or combination in their Province or State of residency and the licence is valid."
Missing Canada would be like missing half of the RV'able world in North America. Fantastic country and fantastic people there.

I have a "D" "Z". I'm surprised it took that long.

As RvDude has stated if you are properly licensed in your home Province or State you will be legal in Ontario.
You will be missing some beautiful country, and the 'Beer' is also good!!

The key words here are to be properly licensed in your state. Many states require a class B for motor homes over 26,001 lbs. Some states exclude motor homes. And, the test varies per state. In PA a road test is given, where other states do written only and some do both.
I have talked to several people since I bought my DP who weren't aware they need a "B" in PA. My license came up for renewal last year so when I was visiting in Dec and renewing my license I asked. It was also a topic of conversation at a seminar I attended and most were not aware they needed to change license class. When checking, some didn't but I think most did. I honestly didn't think about it when I bought my "new" home, but glad I checked.

Sounds like I'm good to go license wise. If that good beer is nice and cold, I better start planning a trip to Canada soon!!

We're heading to Canada this summer. Not sure exactly when, because it depends on when our license plates and registration catch up with us. I don't think I want the hassle of crossing the border with temp tags that are likely to expire while we're there.

Joe, With a King Aire, I doubt anyone will be looking at the tags. Nice ride.

Texas also requires a Class B non-CDL if your motorhome is over 26K, which includes a written test, vision test and a road test.
Joe recently received a Class B CDL, which is more than he needs, but TX DPS would not give him a Class B non-CDL, since he was tested in a commercial vehicle.
We're not returning to TX after we pick up the coach in two weeks and we didn't know anyone here who would let us borrow their coach so Joe could get a Class B non-CDL, so Joe went to commercial driving school in Houston last month so he could obtain a license to legally drive the coach, which is why he now has a Class B CDL.
I just received a restricted Class B non-CDL license this past week. When we return to TX next spring, I'll take the road test, but first I need to learn how to drive a RV, so RV driving school is probably in my future.
