New Ford Powertrain coming soon to Canyon Star?
Hi all
I Just wondering if anyone has heard if/when canyon star will be getting the new 7.3 v8 and 10 speed tranny. We were planning to upgrade soon to a Ventana le or Ventana 4018, but now we are curios as to how Canyon star will perform with the new power train? Our current 3953 preforms very well, but we would like a little more power.
TIA
Milo

Do a search on the new Ford 7.3 for the big chassis. It looks promising but as far as much more power goes, I wouldn't get too excited. It may get a few mpg better which is why it is in the works, not to mention probably a cheaper engine to build though the engineering looks very good. Personally, I don't think it is worth waiting for if you were thinking of a Ventana.

Since gassers are usually build on the previous year's chassis, I would expect the 2020 motorhomes to be on 2019 chassis. So that means the currect F53 chassis with the V10 engine. If so, the new engine and chassis won't be available until the 2021 model year.

My guess is about this time next year you will see announcements. Going to blur the line more when you have a gas with 400+ HP and 10 speeds, it won't be as efficient nor as pleasant as a diesel pusher, but it will cost a whole lot less, and you will be passing diesels all day long up mountain passes with the power to wieght of the gas MH.

We will have to watch for any leaks for Ford's "Job 1" date when the 7.3 gas engine and 10 speed tranny are to begin installation in the F53 chassis. There will be a delay to use up existing V10 chassis before Newmar uses the new 7.3 + 10 speed chassis.

I know my previous coach with Chevy 8.1 v8 and Allison 6 speed was much quieter and pulled better uphill's, Hopefully the new Ford power train can match or exceed the old Chevy. We just love the value and amenities of Canyon Star
