New Koni shocks on my Spartan are awesome!

Just got home from NIRVC Las Vegas after getting my hit list worked on. One item was the severe front end porpoising on my Spartan chassis. Spartan said I have the latest greatest approved shocks on my 2020 and could offer no other help. Said to check the ride height, which we did and it was perfect according to Jase, my Spartan tech at NIRVC.

So, I took the advice of many on here and bought two new Koni EVO shocks for my rig. While at NIRVC I had them install them for me (I was feeling lazy!) Drove 400 miles home yesterday, man what a difference! No more constant front end bounce on every bump and bridge transition, rides like it should have from the factory!

I still can't understand why my DS 19,000 pound front axle only gets 46MM shocks, while the 20,000 pound front axles on all the upline rigs get 60MM shocks standard. It is obvious to me that my shocks were under valved or just too small. The Koni EVO are far larger and work wonderfully.

Interesting that they wonít use the Koniís from the start since they perform so much better. Glad it helped.

On or 18 LA with Spartan k3 chassis we changed to the King Aire 60 mm Bilstein and also are ride improved. We were getting an extra bounce on big dips in the road and sometimes it even bottomed out. Also added motion control valves to front air bags and these to did in improve the handling on rough road ways. In 19 Spartan starting putting the 60mm shocks on all MA on up chassis.

Where did you get your motion control valves for front air bags, and were they very difficult to install (able to reach the air lines)? Haven't looked under the coach there yet but the front valves for my previous diesel weren't too bad to install.
Wife keeps talking about her side dipping more than our previous coach and makes her nervious on mountain passes. Maybe these valves would help.

Same experience with price and vendor. I to put the shocks on my front end and am very pleased with the difference.
Some on this site, advised me, that new shocks could not fix my issue, well I am here to say my so called shimmy is gone and bumps ect... no longer bother me and are far less noticeable.
Dutch Star John was the one op that advised me to take the leap and I am glad I listened. I think this is my fourth mod that I emulated due to his postings.

Just saying,

I put Koni EVO's on the from of our 2013 DS(Freightliner) Friday and had a 100+ mile drive yesterday. I am very pleased with the results. The sharp jarring on bumps is gone and much smoother ride.

Yep, thanks to Dutch Star Don and many others that advised me to do the Koni shocks. Made an amazing difference. I still prefer the more sporty ride of the Freightliner chassis, but the Koni EVO shocks make the Spartan coach ride far more enjoyable. Even my wife was upset that it was always launching her out of her seat on every bump.

I guess I have spent too many years driving 1 ton 4X4 trucks and Jeep Wranglers to like the floating on air Cadillac drive of the Spartan. It's been 20 years since I owned and drove a car!

Got the Motion Control valves from Hendricks in Oregon. Need to measure the size of air lines to get the correct ones. Very simple to install. Want them as close to the air bag so you use a razor blade cut the line and slip the valves in.

That is for sure. Waaaaay overpriced but they know when it says for RV use they can charge 10x what is fair.
