New member checkin and Help...

Hello fellow RV owners. I just puchased a 2002 Dutchstar Class A.

I have a problem. When ever I put the MH in Drive and release the brakes, I get an alam under the dash somewhere. Its not the jacks, That has a separate alarm. I have no lights on in my dash. The last time I took the MH out the alarm quit on its own for @ 20" minutes and then came back on. I have talked to Newmar and HWH and they do not know what alarm is....Can anyone out there help a Brother out?

Hi Jerry! Welcome to IRV2! We're sure glad you joined us!

Congrats on the new rig! Hopefully someone will be along to help with that problem. Have fun and keep her between the ditches!

Good luck, happy trails, and God bless!

Jerry,

Congrats on your Dutch Star.

If you are sure it's not a faulty "jacks down" warning, I wonder if you are getting an intermittent false "brake not released" warning.

You might try putting the coach in gear but DON'T release the brake right away and see if the warning sound is the same as the one you get if you release the brake. Maybe a short or bad ground causing the warning even though you released the brakes?

What are your air pressures? That could be a low air warning especially since you say it sounds when you release the brake, which lowers the air pressure.

I seem to remember something from about a week ago that someone’s foot rest on their seat was’t fully retracted. You may want to expand your search because those alarms can be deceiving as to where they are coming from. Good luck.

On my 2003 there are few alarms andor interlocks. Jacks down is one and shows a warning light on the dash as well as the jack control panel. The only other alarm I have had is low air. there is no alarm when parking brake is applied, and transmission is in gear. Check your air pressure gauges. If the gauges both show 100 lb or more, it could be a bad sender or a wiring issue. Might have to have a shop check actual tank pressures.

Not sure this will help however always be sure your jacks are completely retracted when you start your engine , on my other coaches if you interrupted the retraction by starting your engine it would stop the retract cycle and may cause the alarm to go off, normally it would not be immediate and would be after you begun to drive.

Does anyone know where the "brakes not released alarm" might be specially located in dash fuse panel on 2002 Newmar Dutchstar? It sounds like the same alarm that is beeping when I release the parking brake. I can hear it when I take off the cover off the dash fuse box cover on the drivers side.
