Hello members. We want to purchase a 2017 Dutch Star 4369 the end of April. We have decided on the floor plan finally and found several through out the country but are not sure which chassis is the best choice. We have found both freightliner and spartan on the ones we like. Any real differences on the two or problems any one has had. We went nuts finding the floor plan we liked now have a choice on the chassis. Thanks for the help.

Glad to have you here in the forum with us.

It's sort of like the Chevy/Ford thing. However many high end coaches use Spartan.

Happy Trails!!!

Both brand chassis are excellent. If you take a poll here I think more people would select Spartan but only because they perceive it to be better. In real life usage I don't know if it makes any significant difference.

I think if I was ordering a DutchStar, I would select Spartan. If I was buying one from dealer stock I don't think I would let the chassis brand sway my decision either way. Pick the floorplan, colors, options you really want and a dealer you trust and don't worry about the chassis.

Good Luck with your shopping, the 4369 DutchStar is awesome.

Welcome to the forum, neighbor! We live in Edmond, and have a 4054 DSDP on order, expecting to pick it up mid May. We ordered a Spartan chassis, but have had two other coaches on a Freightliner chassis.

Thumbs up

Thanks everyone for the replies. We are going to buy one from dealer stock because to order a 2018 would delay us from getting one until at least mid July.
It seems that the ones I have found with our floor plan all have FL chassis. I retire in mid June and we can't wait to get on the road and meet fellow rver's.

Welcome to the forum! PS: a "TSB" is a technical service bulletin (assuming you didn't know that already).

We have a 2017 4369 DS. We have the Spartan chassis. Why? Disc brakes all the way around. Much stronger chassis than FL. 2017 is only year without up charge for Spartan

Hope you live near a dealership since Newmar just instituted a very anti customer policy re sending warranty parts directly to their customers. My coach is now out of warranty, but I'd find another brand unless you don't mind your coach spending weeks at the dealership for trivial repairs.

Only time I use parts from Newmar was what I bought from them at their store when I visited for warranty service there, any other problems I got parts from off the internet and probably cheaper.
Only time was at a dealer was for a recall never service work.
All three Newmars visited their center at one time or another for warranty work, instead of going to dealer, worked in trips we took, dealers in NE had no clue how to resolve a problem, only one was left after 2008.
