New MH

We are looking at 2903 and 3124. Any thoughts on whether upgrade to extra ac is necessary for either?
Thanks for any and all comments

I would think that would depend a lot on place and time of usage. I see that you are in Florida, and I have spent some sweltering hot days there!

One of the selling points on our new coach was the triple 15K BTU units…it gets quite toasty here in Texas as well, and we do NOT do heat any more

If we intended to do mostly high elevations out west, cooling capacity would not have been that important to us.

That's all I got …

Hi FapInJax,
Welcome to iRV2 and the Newmar Owners Forum. By all means, get the second roof unit. My assumption is the units are heat pumps. The second unit will also help when heat is needed. One can never have enough HVAC. One can always use less than the capacity they have, but can not get more capacity if it is not there.

Thanks. We looked at the 2903 and will be looking at the 3124 because of the king bed. I guess we will then build our unit by deciding on options. There does not seem to be much difference between the two.

The additional ac will be a 2nd 13.5 BUT the generator bumps up to 5.5 and 50 amp service

Any other options that we absolutely consider or absolutely don't get?

I have been reading as much as possible on the site. Newmar appears to be a very high quality vehicle. We looked Fleetwood and Winnebago before narrowing it down. We have camped for years but this will be our first MH.

Thanks in advance to all of you that help with our decision.

Welcome to the forum & irv2.
Here is a Brochure with weights, tank sizes & options and here is a Owners Guide for the coach.
They sure pack some good features in these small coach's for 2014.
Good luck in planing your coach layout and happy travels when you get it.
In my signature there are links also that will relate to your coach.

You can never have too many air conditioners, especially if one goes bad.

I believe you are considering a Baystar? If so, I suggest you add the rear ladder, leveling jacks, inverter, full exterior paint, satellite prep, double pane windows, awning. By the time you add these things, compare to the price of a Canyon Star.

As some one who just purchased a Newmar off the lot because the model we wanted is not being made for 2014. I will say this based on a 2013 Baystar. The solid surface counter tops would have been nice more for the single handle faucet. Like the extra window in the Kitchen and Bedroom for the natural light. If LED lights are available I suggest you get them. For future use I would also suggest if you are ordering it to get it at least prepped for what you can. Be it Solar, Sat, etc. Even if you don't plan on using it right away. HD wiring also fits in this category. If they let you also consider having more 12vdc plugs up front for GPS, Phones, etc to plug in and have a plug by the passenger seat install that is hook up the the inverter to allow 110 volt while driving without the generator running to hook up a computer or such. Consider the window shades. The day night shades are not black out so some light does get through. Happy ordering.

Go with a second AC. We ordered our '97 MA 34' with just one. It did the job fairly well, but that was with the R19 roof insulation and the fiberglass roof. I would highly recommend these two upgrades if available on the BS. We just ordered a 3630 CS and went with that upgrade.

I would also suggest not suffering from "2 foot itis". Our first coach was 27', second 32', third 34', and new coach 36'. I expect the 36 not to drive much different than the 34, and we found that to be the case every time we "sized up". Choose by the floor plan you like the best. Happy shopping!
