New Newmar Owner with questions
After years of dreaming and months of shopping and educating myself I just purchased my first motorhome, a 2005 Newmar Mountain Aire 4304. I'm in the process of reading the manuals and getting familiar with the coach. I have the Panasonic Navi System (AVIC) with Trip Tech and XM module. I would like to activate the XM module but need to get the radio ID to be able to activate. From reading the manual I cannot find out how to find the radio ID, I know it's an add on module so if it came from the factory with the XM module would the factory have this number, if not does anyone have any idea of where the module is and how to get to it. Also I'm trying to change the "go to home" icon on the Nav from the original owners address to my address and can't figure out to edit this information, can anyone help me with this?
I'm also trying to figure out how to attach a digital converter box for the over the air antenna thru the Winegard video distribution switch, so if anyone has any info on this I would appreciate it.
I'm sure I'll have more questions as I learn more.
Thanks
Sonny

On a regular XM radio you tune to channel 1, I believe, and the radio ID is displayed. Not sure about an add-on module.
Can't help with the other questions as my DSDP doesn't have any of that equipment.
Welcome to the forum, and congratulations on your new Newmar. Lots of nice folks here with lots of info.

I have a Sirius add-on module and the code is on a sticker on the module itself.

AVIC is a series of Pioneer not Panasonic. There is also more to the model. It will be a letter and possible number prior.
Congratulations on your new rig. You choose wisely, the MA is a beutiful coach.

All I know channel 16 or 18 is the Elvis channel. I can't figure out how to change the damn channels. But I've only had it 1 1/2 years. Pioneer sucks. And they don't have updates on the Pioneer GPS anymore.

Actually, it depends which model Pioneer GPS. There are new upgrade software available on at least the internal hard drive ones Z1 and Z2. I know because I just upgraded mine in May.

Congratulations on the MADP -- VERY nice unit -- great year model before they started putting all the junk on the motor and a good year of Newmar production. We have owned two Newmars.
Regarding the converter box-- since many don't use the VCRs anymore - many people have removed the VCR and replaced it with the box and then you are able to send the signal where you want - B/R or L/R. This would get things up and going for now until you decide what you want to do permanently.
A year or so ago - before we replaced the Sony with a LCD flatscreen and removed the VCR, I commented on my VCR in front of my nieces and nephews and they all laughed at me... a good laugh too.
Whatever I did, I would do it in a temporary fashion because I expect you will do like most are doing now and remove the Sony and replace it with a new flat screen...it is well worth the work and makes reception a lot easier and better.

Digital Converter
When I installed mine I was told not to install it between the antenna and the switch. Putting it There would allow the electric current from the booster to the antenna to enter the converter and blow it out. So, I put it between the switch and the front TV. We only can watch antenna programing on the front TV. If you want to watch on other TVs you need to install converter boxs on them.

Regarding the converter box, we just went through the trial and error process on our 2005 Mountan Aire 3783. Putting the converter box between the antenna and Wineguard DOES NOT WORK. Also, if you go to camp grounds with cable, that presents another hook-up problem. The solution I am using is a follows:
1. The lead from the antenna goes into the Wineguard "antenna in" port.
2. Connect the line "To Main TV" on the Wineguard to a signal splitter.
3. Run a line from one output of the splitter to the converter box
4. Purchase a reverse splittter switch at WALMART ($5.79). This switch is like a signal splitter, but goes in reverse and has a switch on it for Cable or Antenna.
5.Run a line from the converter box out to the "antenna IN" side of the reverse switch.
6. Run a line from the signal splitter to the "Cable in on the reverse switch.
7. Connect the lead from the television to the output side of the reverse switch.
When you are hooked up to cable, just put the Reverse switch to cable. When you want to watch TV, put the switch in the antenna position. Don't forget to go to the television menu and select cable or antenna. Do an auto channel search for cable but the antenna channels are programed through the converter box..
ON the Wineguard unit, you still need to turn on the antenna signal booster, select the source as antenna for main TV. If you want to watch able, use cable as the source.
The rear television would require a separate converter box and splitter/reverse switch set up in the bedroom so you can use the remote for the converter box.
Hope that helps.

Thanks for the info on the converter, I figured out the best situation for me. If I want OTA in the bedroom or outside I will need a conveter box for each one. I have a problem with my antenna that if I had known I would not have tackled this project. The antenna will not raise, it'll go up a couple inches then flop back down, go up a couple of inches then flop back down. Can't be much to fix (probably the elevator gear or worm gear needs replacing) I'm just a little leary about climbing on top of this thing, I'm affraid of heights. If I gotta get up there I will, but I'm going to wait till the weather cools down some, I just need to make sure I have the right part and tools, I don't want to go up there twice.
