New owner new to group

Glad I found this forum. I just purchased an 04 Newmar Dutchstar 40' with four slides and I'm sure gona need some guidence in the near future.

I bought it at an auction and will pick it up next week in texas. I'm bringing a friend who knows his way around tools in case I get into trouble. Besides checking all the fluids and tires, is there any other "you must check" things I should be on the lookout for?

I saw an odd looking satelite on the roof, are these any good?

Thanks in advance for you help. Josh

dportem welcome to the iRV2 family and to the Newmar forum.
When you pick up your DutchStar ask if there is a case with all the information about the MotorHome.
Newmar has always given a case with this information, hopefully it is still with the DS.
Great name.

Josh -

Just what do you mean by "odd looking"? What does it look like?

Are you buying it as-is, or will they fix the stuff that you find is broken?

The PDI list above is a good one. You could spend a couple of days checking everything if you're thorough.

If it has the original tires, you'll need to replace them in the next year or 2 regardless of tread remaining.

Make sure you have a tire gauge that can go over 100 PSI.

It sounds like you're buying it a fair distance from where you live. You might want to buy a Doran Tire Pressure Monitoring System.

Check all the fluids, of course.

Is the dish on the roof a dome?

You might want to sign up for Coach Net. It's essentially AAA for RVs.

Enjoy your new coach, and stop by often!

Josh, Welcome to the forum and congratulations on your purchase. The DSDP is a great coach. I hope you have years of adventures in it and share them with us. Very best of luck.

04 Newmar Dutchstar

Thanks for all the replies. It is "as is" a 4025 DSDP. The dish on the roof just lays there until ready to use I guess. We will check look for all paperwork that comes with it. Hopefully she'll have a good history.

Doing some research here it looks like I can pick between dish and direct tv.
Will this unit work while driving or is it a non tracking device?

Hope you all have a good holiday! Josh

Sounds like it is a crank up type Sat. dish. If it is, only good when parked.
