New purchase pending inspection

I have an appointment to see a 2005 KS on Friday. The seller explained he hooked the MH up apparently to 220V by mistake and had to replace Ref. AC units, board in Onan & Inverter microwave and probably more. They have apparently fixed all the damaged items and insurance covered the cost. Is there a chance this will be an ongoing problem and should i walk away....Is there something I can inspect or possibly hire an expert to look for that would make this a MH I would feel comfortable with. New tires and batteries and all the new stuff make this tempting... Also would you do a oil sample test and let the freightline folks do there thing? Thanks for your help Bill W.

I would walk away. There is aways a chance of other things that could be a problem. Electrical can be a real pain in the neck (as well as safety) if there are other issues. This is not the only MH with new tires and batteries out there. Just my two cents

It would certainly be worth the money to have the coach inspected by a certified RV tech. It will be money well spent. Once you have this done, if you go ahead, at least you'll have the peace of mind that you did all you could.

Good luck, let us know what you decide. Happy Trails!!!

Well you can give the seller point for honesty, a LOT of people would try to hide the facts about that level of repair.
I'd be asking if the repair was done at an RV repair shop, and to see a copy of the invoice that the insurance company paid for.
If the owner repaired things and the insurance paid for just the parts, I'd walk away.

As Skip426 said, get a list of what was replaced. Go over it with a reputable RV repair person and make sure that everything that could go bad was replaced.

From what you've already listed most of the stuff that can be broken by applying 220V has been replaced. Many TV's and DVD players, etc, will work fine on 220V.

If the price is really attractive I'd continue, especially if the seller pays for an inspector of your choice to verify everything electrical works OK.

Also, I agree it's refreshing to see an honest seller, most wouldn't mention it.

There is absolutely no reason to walk away from this coach. it's easy enough to verify what works and what doesn't, it's not magic

Thanks for the response, we haven't talked price yet it looks like he's at the middle of the NADA scale at 69K . I plan on getting the Good Sam's insurance on coach and keep it at least 1 year and was wondering if this is a pre existing problem(like medical insurance) will the new policy cover something if it goes bad ? Will they have access to his claim.... Maybe I'm over thinking this .. also when you purchased your MH did you have the oil analysis done, I come from the boating world and this is standard procedure along with an extensive survey I would absolutely have the computer read out on engine done and have an RV expert check it out . Hi billwhite,
In your favor is that the 05 KS is a basic coach. I have one. Making the repairs should have been relatively straight forward. Do what the previous posters suggested. One thing you may consider purchasing immediately is a surge protector. It matters not which brand. The technology is a commodity.
