new roof

I am doing a complete roof replacement on my 1998 dutch Star. While it is off I would sure like to add about 2" to the interior height. My head barely scrapes on ceiling and a couple of inches would make it less claustrophobic. Is their any room to play with ceiling thickness. Thanks much for any ideas or examples.

Welcome to iRV2.

The ceiling height and roof support; are part of the overall coach structure ; aluminum trusses; you'd have to re-engineer the walls and raise the wall height to get more headroom.
You can drop the bathroom or fantastic vent trim and see what you're up against. With the HVAC and wiring that's up there in our roof trusses , it would be more cost effective to trade up to a coach with the headroom you want.

If you do a tour of the " Sticky " posts at the top of the listings in the Newmar owners forums . Particularly The " Quick fixes and Easy Mods " parts 1&2 then 3. You'll find hundreds of links to all things Newmar.
Could be the other info you need is in the links to roof repair there.

Here is a link to a contributors You Tube page. He rebuilds this coach, raising the roof in the process. Even though it is a SOB he may give you some ideas.
