New Roof skin

I just purchased a 1998 newmar dutch star with 25000 miles thats been in a shed all its life when it wasn't being used and they just recently coated the roof and re caulked everything. I'm wondering since its in such good shape should I have a new rubber roof put on. If so where is the best place and how much should I expect to spend? I'm nervous about leaks since I had a 2004 newmar fifth wheel that did and it pretty much destroyed the camper. Also would like to know best way to sanitize fresh water holding tank.

We just had a Flexarmor roof installed on ours. We had a lot of roof and ceiling damage to be repaired, and did not want a repeat performance. Leaks were due to PO not keeping sealant joints in good repair and poor drainage design on the part of the manufacturer. Yes, it is a bit expensive. Worth it to me and DW. If I were looking at a new rubber roof, I would definitely go with the Flexarmor. It is not the same as RV armor. There is a cost difference for sure, but we feel very comfortable with the Flexarmor since there are no caulked seams or joints on our roof now. No more caulk and a lifetime warranty.

I had a complete new roof done by Premium RV Roofing in Marionville, Mo. they stripped it down to roof struts, redecked with 3/16” zip board, and installed new membrane on top. Replaced all hardware on roof. New remote control vents, OAT antenna, radio antenna, skylight and new shrouds for three AC units. Less than $8k.

Cost about $6,000. Warranty is lifetime and transferable.

I used Henry's Tropi-cool on my roof. Its a lifetime roof also, and I did it myself for about $300. 5 Gals will do 2 coats easily. Very solid and nice for keeping coach cool in sun. In my opinion its just as good as the $6k and > roofs you get professionally installed.

I know its solid as I experienced an awning break in a storm that pounded my roof for about 30 minutes with the awning that broke away at one end. No roof damage, other than my AC shroud.

And no longer have to do dicore.

I used tropi-cool as well on my previous TT. I thought it adhered and worked great. Took 2.5 gallons on a 23' trailer. I scrubbed and washed the living heck out of it then wiped with acetone. After a few days set up I couldnt peel it. Was still in great shape 3 years later when I sold the TT. I'd use it again.
