New shocks for 17 DS

I’m considering replacing the front shocks on my 17DS on a Freightliner Chassis. Would someone have the part # for the Koni EVO’s that will fit? Also, what type of front axel system do I have? The coach paperwork doesn’t show the manufacturer.

I have the same coach, so I thought I'd look it up for you on DTNA Connect. So after looking it up I got a little confused. My axle serial number is listed with the coach information but no manufacturer or part number. So following the links in Parts Pro, this is what I came up with for the front axle part number.

ASSY-IFS,ZF RL80,16K

So this is a ZF independent front suspension, but what is the 16K for? My GWAR for the front is 17,000. Doing a little more research I found a ZF technical bulletin that said the maximum capacity of the RL80 E is 16,976 lbs. Also, listed the same tires for the axle that are on my coach.

Don't know if this will help you at all, but it is starting to make sense to me.

Hi Jerry,
I just replaced my front shocks with Koni EVO and drive with regular Koni. Koni does not make a tag axle shock or I would have replaced those as well. I called Koni customer service and they are very helpful and will tell you which of there shocks will work best for your rig. I cannot remember the part number or I would tell you but i can offer my opinion as we just drove around 650 miles to NC or WOW, what a difference.

I recently put Koni EVO front shocks on our MADP and still cannot believe the difference. Amazing.

"lenny-shawna".....When I ordered the Koni FSD's for the rear of my coach, they said they didn't have a part number for the tag. I removed the tag shock and gave them the measurements. They sent me the same shock as the drive axle shock. This was on a 2014 Freightliner.

I'm guessing it's the same shock. To verify, call Freightliner and have them give you the two shock numbers, drive and tag.

Here is the front shock information and axle information for the 2017 DS 4018 from DTNAConnect. Tag and drive axle information is there also.

For people that don't know about it, there is a tremendous amount of information there for Freightliner owners including all the chassis wiring diagrams, chassis parts, chassis drawings, current warranty information on specific coach and more.

Thanks for the info Dan, I will definitely call and order those shocks once we return home.

I'm looking to replace my front shocks also. I asked Ultra Rv products.com if these will fit the 2017 and told me they would. I will order a pair.
