Our full wall slide on the drivers side has always abruptly dropped at the end when extending. People say that’s normal for a Newmar. However, I just noticed the the wooden trim at both ends of the slide have loosened from the slide. The middle and top wood trim is solidly starched to the slide, but the ends on each slide by the floor are loose. I found out by opening the small cabinet at the bottom of the slide by the sofa and the wooden trim moved when I tried to open it.

Hopefully, the slide just needs to be adjusted somewhere and the wooden trim then just needs to be epoxied back in place.

I have an appointment with my dealer next week to address this, but I don’t have a lot of confidence in their expertise in dealing with full wall slides in Newmars, which use a proprietary system.

Any advice before my appointment is appreciated.

dropping into place as you describe is part of the routine with Newmar FWS, but shouldnt be affecting trim, should be an easy adjustment though. Dealer should be able to handle.

The FWS on my BayStar 3124 drops with a sharp bang at the end-of-travel - always an un-nerving event - but so far no damage that I can see.

Always makes me wonder - will the slide mechanism be able to pull it back-up-and-over on retraction............

It is designed that way. Gives a flat floor. 85k on mine and going strong.

Thanks DaveMan and NorCal47. Still hard to believe this is normal. My only concern is the loose wooden trim. As you know, it about 6-8 inches across and it’s attached very tight against the rest of the slide, and just loose at the bottom 2 feet of each side. I’m wondering if it’s not addressed if it will keep coming loose up the sides of the slide.

The drop/bang is normal, Al. Unnerving to some extent, but normal. The loose trim happens. That was one of the warranty issues on our 2018 - failing trim around the driver's side slide (although ours is not a FWS, as is yours). The techs at our service center in Tucson made some adjustments to the slide and ensured the trim was properly secured (some gluing and nailing). No issues since. Hope your guys do as well.
