New to Newmar

Hello everyone!

I'm new to the forum with my recent purchase of a 1998 Newmar KS gas powered on a 1999 Ford chassis. It is in incredible shape and a beautiful rolling home. I drove it from Seattle to Los Angeles where she'll sit for a while as I commute back and forth to the Pacific Northwest. I may have lots of questions for you all, so I thank you for your patience in advance.

Best Regards,
Casey

Casey You might check chassis date of production because most likely it is either a 98 or 97 rather then a 99. It isn't uncommon to have a chassis one year older then coach but would be unlikely a 98 coach with a 99 chassis. Not a big deal and probably no difference. Newmar makes great motor and happy trails to you. This is the place to get answers.

Concerning the coach year vs the chassis year.

1998 was an unusual exception when it came to the Ford F53 chassis. A 1998 coach could have either a 1997 460V-8 chassis or a 1999 V-10 chassis. It was a transision year with significant changes to the chassis and there was no official 1998 F53 produced, so the new 1999 chassis was introduced early, partway into the 1998 model year. Thus the reason you will find some 1998 Class A coaches with a 1999 V-10 chassis.

Enjoy your new motorhome, Casey!

We bought a new '98 Santara, it had the 460. Don't remember the chassis year after this long. Never got more than about 6˝ mpg even with the Banks on it.
