New tv no sound from speakers madp

I just removed the old and installed a new flat screen TV. I plugged into the audio cables just as the old TV was. I hear sound from the TV speakers but not from the audio system speakers. Any ideas out there ?

We installed flat screens in our MADP as well. We installed new Blu ray, etal, at the same time, so my info may not fit your system. Our amp must be on to get the sound thru the speakers. TV on alone won't operate the overhead speakers.

On our 2000 DS, the TV audio is passed to the in-dash AM/FM/CD player and in order to route the audio over the house speakers, the AM/FM/CD needs to be set to AUX.

There may be a setting in the tv menu to tell it to use an aux out. Or not to use the tv speakers at all

Well, of course... why didn't I thing of that. All the new TV's have those settings, and from my experience, they have to be set to provide audio to the external speakers. Choices are usually: Internal, External; Internal+External.

One problem I ran into recently was that we needed to buy a fiber optics cable and use that connection on a Vizio HD TV to a new amplifer, the owner had purchased and was using.
We had TV sound but no speakers in the MH came alive until the fiber optics connection was used. It made no difference on the TV menu settings until the new cable was installed. Vizio told us that via their customer service contact.
