newbee need advice
hi folks,
im in the market for a used diesel pusher. in 4 days I have no where to live !
ive looked at a bunch but just recently found a newmar vantana at a local dealer in portland Oregon. its a 1 owner trade in but I am unable to contact previous owner.
this is the first newmar ive looked at and I don't know a thing about them although I just read a bit about the company. I have learned that there are many strong opinions out there and they tend to contradict each other. im an old time car nut and have bought and sold 30-40 convertibles over the years so I know people feel strongly, one way or the other....ford or chevy?
question...what can you tell me about newmar quality and reliability in general and what about the vantana specifically?
thx in advance, its always helpful to talk to people with real world experience
travel safe!

Welcome Dave to the forum, not knowing what year your interested, in this link will bring you to the Newmar web site. NEWMAR CORP .COM
It will show all models plus the Ventana and also how their built.
When you have a pacific coach we can get that info.
If you get the Vin# info for that coach itself.

whoops..
the vantana is a 2006, 30K miles 36 ft, 3 slides, nice condition 330 hp appx $90K.
im really interested in newmars reputation..as an example, in my research ive learned that I don't want an alpha, bad reputation, again, just based on what ive read.
and then the vantage, any owners with advice and where does it fall in the newmar product line.
anything I should look out for?
thx again!
da

If your serious get it inspected.
If you do it yourself, go over it with a fine tooth comb and let your nose be your guide.
Don't rush, even if you have to be out of your home in days.
I have a '01 Mountain Aire gas purchased last august.
Well built unit.
I would buy another used Newmar without hesitation after carefully checking it over of course.
Good luck
Keith

Purchased mine 2 yrs ago. Just finished changing the floors where I had to take all the furniture out and the bottom out on the front dash to get my tiles under everything. Turned out great but doing this project I realized how well built my coach was!

you folks are great!!!!
again. thx all for the comments.
im going to look at the newmar today and probably make an offer, contingent on inspection etc.
im currently looking for a "rv inspector" in the Portland Oregon area, I found a few in Seattle but that wont do. any suggestions for Portland??
EXTENDED WARRANTIES? its a bet, a gamble, like all insurance, paying for some "peace of mind". the dealer offers their product. im not even sure who that co is. I assume there are many warrantee companies out there. as usual, I need to find the "best value"....not the cheapest or even the most expensive.....the best value.
im very much a DIY kinda guy but im no diesel mechanic. I cant imagine doing any serious wrenching on a coach.
again, the coach im looking at is a 1 owner vantana, 2006, 30K miles, diesel pusher.
any comments and/or suggestions for an extended warrantee or an inspector in the Portland area??
thx again,
dave in portland

Hi gigem,
Welcome to iRV2 and the Newmar Owners Forum. I have an 05 KSDP. This is the predecessor to the Ventana. My coach has the Cummins ISC 330 hp engine and a little over 90K miles. I am please with the coach and would make the same purchase again.
