Newmar Bay Star Storage Doors
Love this brand new unit. The new 220000 lb chassis has created higher storage doors. This is great , more storage. But there is a small problem. There is a lose of blood associated with this. I mean how many times can you scare your bald head before you start wondering what to do. New Mar your bottom of the storage doors are very sharp. I have owned the coach for three weeks and have three scratches. Is there anything I can do? JIM

Do you lift the doors up to highest point and lock in top slot for lift rod?
It may give you a better view when moving around the door when open.
Its possible you can attach a rubber molding on that sharp curved edge to protect your head.
I have had my coach for over ten years and have learned to make myself aware of those door corners and slide corners when out.
My scares have healed eventually.

Just part of the learning curve, some times you need to zig instead of zagging! We've had our MH 12years and it still bites me when I'm not paying attention

There is nothing you can do. It is part of the secret blood pact with Newmar. When we meet we remove our hats and bow to prove our membership to the "brotherhood".

If thats the only thing you are banging your head on your doing pretty good. I agree, the doors have sharp edges. I suggest you always wear a hat. It will absorb some of the damage that your head would normally experience. Thats what I do. But unfortunately it cuts down on my visibility so I manage to be looking down when I hit the awning supports. Its always sonething.

I put on a bicycle helmet I keep in the step..looks ridiculous, but has saved me a few head buts.
Side opening doors are the only real answer on your "next coach ."

Excuse the interrupt but is this a 2014 or 15 model? What size? I hear the new Bay Star now has 22.5" wheels is this true? As for the corners have you looked for those Styrofoam pool noodles, I see them on a lot of slide sides.

Kidding aside, its on my list "to do". Have come real close too many times to not do somthing about it. So i'll add clear door edge guards to all storage doors, so I only have blunt trauma when I run into the door. U shaped automotive door moldings about 3" long should cover the sharp edges, plus may have to adjust some door clearances. Auto parts stores carry them at a fair price.
