You might be confusing two things....Tom gave good advise on how to inspect and replace the rollers.
Others have advised on floor protectors that they use in daily use.
You don't use the shims / floor protectors to inspect or replace the rollers.
On mine, the rollers were covered with the carpet protect plastic that the unit likely was built with to keep the carpet clean while it was being made / sold. It did take a half hour to unpeel the plastic that was wrapped a few times around each log.
I called Newmar on my rollers as I recently put hardwood in to replace the carpet. They had one for the application...I think it is $78 per roller (4 on each slide).
