Agreed. Mine would heat up with the engine and never got below 60 and steadily climbed.

The dash AC on our 2013 DS 4338 decided to quit blowing cold yesterday on our way thru the Keys. I suspect it is the Evans valve installation issue.... I'll check it for sure when we leave next week and fire up the diesel .
My question, does anyone know if Newmar accepted responsibility for the error and provided replacement parts for coaches that are out of warranty ? It would be nice if there was a precedent for them correcting their bad installation.

Did your Ac ever work properly? This particular issue was noticeable right away, but if used in milder climates or if heat is often preferred then it might go unnoticed.

It is very important that you document the proof of a factory error. Once you have done so, the parts are not very expensive and if you are providing the labor I would imagine Newmar will take care of you.

Yes, it worked great prior to a few weeks ago... then I noticed it not quite as cold while we were on our thanksgiving trip, then yesterday, it blew warm regardless of settings and travel speed.
right now, just looking for obvious and/or potential culprits

Since your air worked you more than likely have a freon leak, take it to a AC place before you get into the valve problem. That is a cheap problem to solve compared to the unwarranted valve problem. I paid a dealer about $1100 before I took it to a local Auto AC repair shop, about $200 to replace end of hose and gas it up again, worked great on a two month trip to Canada this past summer

Do the test in first thread before adding anything may be the valve problem, not sure Newmar will help although they know about the wrong install of valve brought on by the Redbarrons efforts.

Yep, When we move to the next campground in a week , I'll be in a position to carry out the PD as outlined in the evans doc. If it shows good, I'll then have to find a shop to take it to near Tampa when we get home.
If it is the AC systems (vs the valve), I wonder who would be best to handle the fix, Freightliner, a Newmar dealer or a auto/truck AC shop ?

Make sure you find a shop familiar with Evans tempicon. Call Evans and get a referral.

Well, it wasn't the valve so next will be a stop at a Evans service shop next week. Newmar recommended on that's only about 30 miles from my home and they were able to schedule me in for next week. .

Thanks 007, I have spent over $2000 on my Ac, I just got it out of the shop, I was able to charge this to my GS warranty after a $500 deductible. We replaced the evaporator coil and the AC is putting out really great it just will not come out cold in inside, I think the valve is wrong, tomorrow I will find out. I took my MH to an authorized Evans dealer about 200 miles from me, he contacted Evans and they told him there was no valve problem, they replaced a hose that they claim was leaking, $800, hose came from Newmar, I did not use the MH for several weeks but when I did AC did not work, looked for another leak with no luck, filled it again $200+, I asked them to call Evans and tell them what was going on and mention the valve, they again told us they did not know anything about a incorrect installed valve. A couple on months later, no AC, I took it to a local auto AC guy and he found another leak, replaced the end recharged, worked while I drove the 5 miles back to garage, left on a trio and had no air, took it back to local man, evaporator coil had such a hole we could hear the gas coming out, order a new one, installed $1300 but warranty paid $800. We are leaving next month but I am going back to the local guy and have him check the valve.
I did not appreciate Evans being dishonest about their equipment and I am really irritated at Newmar for not demanding a recall from Evans on these units.

Thanks for sending the information today, I now have the written information to give my local AC man, I hope we can trust the written information from Evans, i just think if I call they will deny that they ever give any information on a problem they never had.

montiem, it really was not Evans problem maybe the part in instructions on proper installation of the valve as to the flow of hot water through it.
If you read the thread the new valves have a sticker on connection point for hose that hot water flows from engine now so installers know how it should be hooked up properly.
You have gone through a lot of expense from different shops that may have not been unnecessary, to test your system now place a pair of vise grip pliers or a "C" clamp on one of the hoses and close to see if the dash AC cooling improves if it does the valve is at fault and needs to be replace and installed correctly.
If you do not want the expense install the ball valve to use during summer months and just do not forget to open the ball valve for winter months if you use the coach.
Someone will remind you if they are cold during the winter months also.
Hope you can resolve sooner than later so you can enjoy your coach, safe travels.

Seeing new life in this thread caused me to go out and look at my installation as my dash A/C has never been very cool and lately has been full hot on all settings including vent. Take a look at this picture, it looks to me like the installation is incorrect. What do you think?

Without knowing the supply hose, you really can't tell by a picture. The only way is to clamp off and see which hose has the pressure / supply from engine . This should enter the valve "inlet", again you have to remove valve and look for red tape or other indicator of the inlet.
