Newmar essex 2007
Brand new to IRV2. My name is Johnny Mac. Just picked the coach up and travelled about 350 mile. Upon arrival I was eager to try everything out. Got one window awning bedroom passenger side that will not activate.Any ideals

Hello and We are glad to have you join us here and we look forward to reading of your adventures and experiences. I am sure you will enjoy the website and forums. Good luck, stay safe and keep us posted.
It could be a loose wiring connection, fuse, controller, switch (or remote), awning motor or wind sensor. Just need to start at one end of the circuit and work your way through it with a test meter or better yet a power probe to find the culprit.

Welcome to the forum & irv2 Johnny.
Here is a Newmar spec for operation of your slides Not sure if the awning is electric or manual operation.
The main awning would be in most cases possibly electric with a 12v motor I believe and there are at times problems with the gear drive others such as bedroom are manual and the slide topper awning moves out off roller as slide moves out.
Here is a Brochure and Owners Guide if needed with info on tank sizes, weights and general operations of coach options.
There is information on slide awnings in chapter #6.
Congratulations and a welcome to the Newmar family.

The problem will probably be one of two faults. The switch contacts are oxidized or the motor is seized. Spray a good electronic contact cleaner in the switch edges and operate switch repeatably to determine if it is the switch. I find if switches are used infrequently they tend to fail to contact properly. Good luck.
