Newmar Essex vs King Aire
Anyone know what the basic differences between the Essex and the King Aire other than the King Aire's $150,000 higher MSRP? The specs look almost identical and the interiors look to be almost the same.

Taken from the website on KingAire:
"Inside, you are greeted by a cockpit that further separates King Aire from its already distant competition. Contrasted cross stitching works its way across the dash, which houses a wireless non-slip charging pad, full LCD driver display and two 12.1” touch screens that can provide 360-degrees of outward visibility. A custom-tuned, 11-speaker JBL® cockpit audio system provides the soundtrack, while exclusive fabrics from the Ralph Lauren® Home Collection set a rather opulent tone."
I didn't see the Essex having the LCD driver display, two 12.1" touch screens, or 11 speaker JBL cockpit audio......can anyone confirm these differences ?

The King Aire has a 200 gallon fuel tank which is nice but that a lot more money difference.

I would think the only people who can answer that question would be someone who made the decision to purchase one instead of the Essex...

I believe the King Aire is built on a more upgraded chassis, perhaps the Spartan K3?
As noted, a call to Newmar is your best bet.

I've seen pictures of the 16 battery trays, with 2 inverters.

The King Aire used to be built on the K3 GT chassis, but now is built on the same K3 as the London Aire and Essex (since the introduction of Newmar's "STAR" chassis).
You'd have to spend a lot of time looking at the details to develop a full picture of the differences. The digital dash would be one, the 200 gallon fuel tank, the bedroom "closets" and window behind a sliding screen at the head of the bed. I don't know if 16 batteries (on sliders immediately ahead of the drive axel) is exclusive to the KA or not. It will take homework to figure it out.

I doubt you can find enough to justify 150k, or 100k for that matter. The Essex is the best bang for your buck by a long shot! Not that the King Aire is a waste of money, it just does not equal the Essex in today's dollar value.

Do the air horns play "Hail to the Chief" when rolling into campgrounds?

But Peter you seemingly achieved the "best of both worlds" by purchasing a pre-owned King Aire.

Hey Bob, Great to see you chime in! Yes, when you can get a rig that only had about 3,000 owner miles with 24 hours on the genset, you go for it. Oh, and it was only 14 months from coming out of the factory. I definitely by-passed the 150k extra and maybe more!
Still, for the 2016 and probably the '17's the Essex is by far the best bang for the buck
