Newmar factory service?

First time to visit factory for service as have heard good things on the forum......but.....
all signed up but tell me why the factory costs are soooo high. Example routine oil and all filters changed on onan diesel generator factory wants $400 can get same thing done at Cummins/Onan factory for about $180. Similar situation for other services, sure love my coach and want things done correctly so will see soon.

With one exception we've always had Newmar work on the things they put on or in the coach---and had Cummins/Onan or Spartan do the work on the engine, gen or chassis. And the only time we had a dealer work on the coach (replace an air conditioner, can't be too difficult, right?) they messed it up.

I only get coach-type stuff done at the factory. I have Spartan or Cummins do anything chassis or engine/generator related. I think Newmar actually subs out the engine/generator work to Cummins. Their specialty is the box they build.

If you have a Spartan Chassis, their factory service center is only about a 2 hour drive from Newmar. Better to get that stuff done there.

Hi MackDaddy,
Companies price their services to invite in or drive away the need for that service. Me thinks Newmar would rather have you choose another vendor for the chassis services.

I think you are correct but such a shame as I feel most would like to work directly with a company that strives to keep and service their customers best they can.

My experience on chassis work is that in a pinch Newmar will do it for a customer but they and you are much better off having Spartan do it, do it faster and do it better!

Newmar has a cost list for items they do on the coach or chassis the receptionist may have one.
We did have on this site at one time but the prices may have risen by now on that list.
