Newmar Factory Tour 2016-07

We took our second factory tour at Newmar this morning, this one led by Roxy who was super knowledgeable.

I think that they replaced the radio headsets since we took our last tour a few months ago, so we were able to hear well. The floor was booming & busy, so we got to see lots of interesting build activity.

There were three coaches available for walk through after the tour - a Ventana, Dutch Star, and Mountain Aire (IIRC). I like the interior color scheme on the 2017 Dutch star except for the countertop choices. Also not super fond of having that same countertop in the bedroom, but I guess it's there for the washer/ dryer.

I love the rear emergency exit doors they are putting in (certain models & floor plans).

I definitely found my preferred exterior colors - unfortunately it's different from DH's. 😜 Someone's special order ALL BLACK paint DS was finished also but they didn't let us walk through it. I am curious about its intended home and the interior config/ colors, but I suspect my curiousity shall remain unsatisfied :-)

We stayed at Pla-Mor campground down the street this time. They were super nice and our site was perfect. Great ice cream also :-)

Interesting fact learned on today's tour: there can be between 1-5 *MILES* of electrical cable in each Newmar (depends on model & options) and that electrical wiring alone can weigh up to 1000 pounds!

Newmar is currently completing 8 coaches per day, which is about normal so they said. Max would be about ten coaches per day.

Was there a 2017 Dutch Star 4018 being built with the 2016 Maritime exterior paint but 2017 Sedona and Sable Maple Interior? If so that was probably mine!

It would have looked like this:

But we'll have 2 recliners not the fireplace.

We were on the afternoon tour and the all black DS was driving out out of the building to the lot as we entered the assembly building. It really looked sharp and we were told they paid much extra for the special order and there about two a year in the all black.

We are going back tomorrow morning for another tour, salivating over our impending London Aire purchase, and will look for a Dutch Star 4018 on the line.
