Newmar front table ideas?

My last motorhome was a gasser with a doghouse. When my girlfriend would bring me food while driving it was a reasonable reach down. I now have a DP with a flat floor, and it is a long reach. I thought I might put a small folding table like a "breakfast in bed" tray, but it is too big and would slide on my wood floor.

Anyone have found a good solution?

We have several small plastic folding trays that we bought several years ago from a rv parts store. I sit one a small throw rug next to the drivers seat and it works well.

Thumbs down

IMO not a good idea to have something that can go flying around in a variety of moves under way.

Also be distracted while driving....not good,

if you want a small shelf for drinks or snacks have it fixed mounted to the dash or floor

I think it's far safer to just pull into a roadside rest stop, eat, then get back on the road. How much time would you lose 5 minutes? I don't need the distraction while driving.

This what I did. The table is the High Low coffee table from Focal.

The table topper was my idea and I worked with Carlyle on the design. The topper just sits on top of the table.

As you can see in his photo, he has improved the initial design.

It worked quite well.

Country Coach Swing-out Tray

This was a good idea in its day.

That's pretty slick.

How about installing a floor mount for a pedestal table. They are essentially flush with the floor, the table would be much sturdier and wouldn't fly around under evasive maneuvers or hard braking. Pretty sure you can purchase all the components online and make or have made a custom table that fits your needs.

Thanks to all who responded.

That coffee table looks like a good option and could serve double duty when I am at the campsite to hold my ham radio transceiver.

Part of the reason I want a table is for the copilot to set her stuff, since we do not have the nice pull out lapttop shelf that out Pace Arrow had on the dash.

Craig....we bought one of those leather looking cubed shape storage boxes (ottoman) that is about 16' x 16" with the a lid that lifts off as a foot rest and table for our sofa. On days where we eat lunch while were driving, we just slide it forward and I place my plate on it. Some of them, the lid even flips over to a tray.

One of these:

Another Idea

After owning a gasser with a table over the engine cover, I sort of missed it when we moved to a DP. Here is a photo of a table made from cherry to match the Carmel-glaze cherry interior wood finish of the coach. It was fabricated so that the front is at an angle that matches the wrap-around angle of the cockpit dash. It features two cup holders, a lower shelf with a trash container, and a map/magazine rack in the back. I really liked some of the designs posted earlier in the thread.

We use one of these boxes...fits in the shower nicely while on the road...and the Keurig fits perfect in it...also serves as a foot stool...many uses!
