Has anyone heard anything more on this subject?

Call Brad and Hall and see if they have any Flexsteel chairs left in inventory.

We bought a couple of chairs from them after hearing about Flexsteel exiting the business, and will have them installed in August. They had limited stock....didn’t get the exact color we wanted....but it will be okay.

I don't know yet, we are traveling and won't be back for a few months. I'm going to guess about $1k for the dinette, sofa and 2 captains chairs. That's based on the reupholstery job he did on our boat.
What I plan to do is find a couple recliners/theater seats at lazy Boy or similar store and then have him get matching material for the rest of the stuff we are keeping in the coach.

Sad to report failure to support...

Hi Folks.
I've written into this forum before and now understand that Flexsteel is out of business. I have it on good authority that NEWMAR set the standard for the furniture, not Flexsteel and has offered a discounted price for the covering and the furniture replacement. However, this has two serious flaws. One, the cost of the furniture replacement is still outrageously high, given the original purchase price of the rig, and, two, the furnishing covering may yet be as poor as before. I have a 19-year old Toyota Avalon that, after 330,000 miles, has nowhere near the damage to the furniture that is true for Newmar's. It's a travesty and I lay the blame squarely on NEWMAR. Be sure to let your friends who are considering NEWMAR purchases know to negotiate for furniture replacement should this occur to them. Hold NEWMAR accountable. The damage to my furniture occurred between 20K and 30K miles. The photo just shows the latest. Perhaps a class action suit may be the only remedy.

I don’t blame Newmar. I blame owners who leave these coaches out in fields, no cover, closed up for months on end and do nothing in the way of preventative maintenance and when something like this happens complain about how bad the manufacturer must be. All vinyl is a petroleum based product and if left UNTREATED in 100+ degree coaches for months will crack.

When not being used, our coach is stored inside. When we use it, all the furniture has throws on it , even with that the material is peeling.

Now a bit of a story-- when we ordered the coach, we told Newmar we didn't like the standard contrasting piping they had on the furniture. I requested no piping but they said no and we could have the same color piping as a special so we ordered it. When we went to pick up the coach at the dealer, just before we entered it, the sales guy said that the piping was the contrasting color ( white on the brown base) . Well , we looked over the coach and I told them we were not going to accept it as the piping was a real turn off for me. They offered us some concessions and accessories to get the sale thru, but I just couldn't accept the furniture. Next, they got Newmar on the phone and after some discussion, they agreed to get new coverings from Flexsteel and would have a local to us upholstery shop install them. We agreed to that. So, after a few weeks, the new coverings come in, and guess what, the piping was a weave mix of white and brown... no deal. So Newmar gets us, the dealer and Flexsteel on a conference call. The manager at Flexsteel said they would do whatever Newmar told them and we discussed the piping colors. We then mentioned that I originally wanted no piping, but Newmar said it was required. Flexsteel said that was not the case and it was only decorative. So, after all that, we ended up with what we wanted in the first place. Furniture with no piping. During the call Flexsteel said that Newmar specs out the coverings and the material to be used. If I had known at the time that Newmar went the cheap route, I would have paid the difference to get the new covers with better material. So now, I'll be doing that on my own .

You are 100% off base. Our coach was stored in covered parking and we use it regularly. Within 5 years, we had to have the furniture re-upholstered twice. DEFECTIVE PRODUCTS.

Not convincing. There are cars, trucks, and boats with vinyl seats lying out in the weather all over the world. These complaints aren't happening with them.

Yep, mine is stored inside a climate controlled garage, does not get any sun or UV unless being used which is only a few weeks a year, two years of use and the front captains chairs are toast, and we upgraded to the king air front captains chairs!!! It’s definitely a flex steel/Newmar thing!!! IMHO

By way of comparison the brand new Flexsteel chairs we installed ~4 years ago which were upholstered in "real" Ultraleather and which are used every day either for driving or as part of our living area are in perfect condition. It's all a question of what material was used.

FWIW some RV seating elements are upholstered in polyurethane-finished fabrics that are competitors to Ultraleather. Others are upholstered in "bonded leather" which is a horrible material IMO. We used a bonded leather product to reupholster our original seats and it was horrible and lasted <2 years.

The upholstery in our 1987 ( thats right 1987 ) Wanderlodge is original and is still in good shape. As far as I know it has never been stored inside and has spent time in Michigan, Calif., Arizona and now Mass. The manufacturers are specifying a bunch of cheap crap that will hopefully make it through the warranty period and will continue to do so as long as the product sells. There is no excuse for all of the issues that come with a new RV. Poor construction methods, no quality control and second rate materials are the norm and will continue to be so until the buying public stops putting up with that.
American auto manufacturers went the same route until the Japanese took their market share. When their sales dropped things changed. There is no question that the RV world is a buyer beware situation.
OK, rant over.

Thank-you for your comment and the reality-check. Generalizations such as those by Clemson reflect a failure to check the facts and betrays unjust bias. As a full-timer, I take great care of our home which has never experienced extreme temperatures since it was purchased. And how does 'parked on grass' have anything to do with furniture damage? It's time to support your customers, Newmar.

P Poor furniture

Clemson, you are Way off base. You may leave your coach "IN A FIELD" but most of us do not. Our '15 DS, Villa furniture, we had to recover front seats, other furniture will need same in the future. Other brands had same problem (not first hand knowledge) Very little help from Newmar, offered us a "deal" that would have cost more than having recovered with good stuff. Original owners seem to get better options, but when you read the blogs and posts about this crap, very inconsistent. One guys gets new stuff, next guy mostly gets the Too Bad So Sad treatment.
Our old '98 Winne had better looking furniture after 18 years than our DS did at 3.5 years.

It’s a real shame that Newmar has not agreed to replace the this low end furniture. I have a 2014 DS, which is my 3rd DS and in my opinion Newmar has lowered my opinion of their product with this junk they used. I bought Newmar because of it’s great reputation for quality. It’s reputation has been permanently damage with me.

We left Texas in June and drove toward Indiana for a supposed furniture replacement appointment. We received a message from Newmar that our appointment is cancelled. Call back on July 13th. Called back on July 14th to find out the furniture issue/ manufacture is not resolved! We are waiting in Michigan at various RV parks. (Social distancing, not able to enjoy museums and spending money!
No I’m not happy with Newmar!
