Unhappy Newmar gone downhill?

Recommend Newmar to my buddy. I have a 2016. Mine was fine. He ordered one last year took delivery early this year. Been a total nightmare! Terrible quality to terrible customer service!! He's had only 3 short trips in 10 months. The rest has been unusable.
Since there takeover by Winnebego, the Company has become a giant corporate RV company that has lost touch with customers and what Quality is. Too bad. Anything under warranty is basically not serviceable. A simple part that they use to get out to you in the mail is now only addressed at an authorized dealer with a 6o day minimum wait.
Im trying to think if what parts i might need in the future before they go out of buisneses.
This is not Covid related!

I called the parts department the other day, waited about 2-3 minutes on hold and got a very friendly parts guy. I wanted to order an extra strip of the vinyl floor divider (32' long), just in case my color went out of production in the next few years. He completely understood and agreed with me. It took another 3-4 minutes to process the order and my package was on it's way. I got it about 4 days later.

I just don't see the issues.

All service departments and suppliers are slow and backed up. They cannot get people to work because they can make more sitting at home and getting unemployment.

In the past we had a Winnebago motorhome and were very pleased with customer service, so I don't think that is the issue. Service and quality control has gone down hill across the board in all areas.

I see these reports of poor service from Newmar and I just wonder what the rest of the story might be.

We bought our 2019 CS in August 2018 so three years now. I've had 4 interactions with Newmar (Nappanee) since purchase and couldn't ask for better responses.

My last interaction was a few months ago regarding peeling furniture. Heading to Nappanee in April (long lead time I know) for what I consider an acceptable resolution.

Sometimes I wonder if folks confuse Newmar dealers with Newmar. Two different animals. Dealers are independent from Newmar corp.

Just left Nappanee and service is still terrific! Same technicians, same parts crew, same excellent service!
My first question would be , what dealer did your buddy buy from?
They are your first line of service, especially your first year while under warranty.

Winnebago Industries is a holding company owning a number of different manufacturers from RV’s to boats.
We asked both technicians and service personnel what changes they had seen since Winnebago bought Newmar.
Both answered no change!

My few experience with Newmar for the 18 months that I’ve owned my BSS have been exemplary. And, of course the BSS is their entry level so if anyone was going to get shortchanged you might think it would be me.

Just called Newmar this week to order a part for our 15 year old Bay Star and the part was shipped the same day. Have called them numerous times and when they do not have the part they tell me where to call.

This is my first Newmar and first experience with my dealer in Vegas. My Newmar experience with parts we ordered so far and service at the factory has been good. My experience with my dealer has been mostly awful from the start. Granted a lot of our parts issues were due to COVID but most or our time delays were due to inexperienced techs and poor follow-up by the Service Writers and overall poor management of the Service Dept. my management. Our coach sat on the lot there from the day we did our PDI for 6 weeks initially. We managed a 2 week trip and then back to the dealer for another 6 weeks. Another short trip and back to the dealer to fix what they said they fixed before for another 4 weeks.

This does not count Freightliner visits for major electronic issues 3X and another one when we get back home. I also have to go back to the dealer for yet more stuff that Newmar Customer service cannot trouble shoot over the phone and some new stuff related to the TV.

The more complicated the coach the more stuff can screw up. Ours is more complex than it needs to be and some of that is bound to fail and does. Fixing it takes more than a screw driver wrench or a volt meter.

My beef is with my dealer mostly and Newmar for not being able to tell you where a component is in the coach to even start trouble shooting. My previous coach came with 80 pages of electrical wiring harness diagrams and schematics...try to get one from Newmar; I did ask on the HDMI system and they sent me a hand drawn one from 2015.

Just venting....

I took delivery earlier this year as well and have been very happy so far. Yes there were some minor issues, that I corrected mostly myself, but certainly no show stoppers. I have ordered some parts/accessories online from Newmar and they have all arrived within 3 days.

Curious to know what issues he faced.

BTW, he must have taken delivery last October, not this year, if he has had it 10 months.

So far I have had a good response from Newmar when I have dealt with them. We are going through the process of getting our upholstery reworked so hopefully my opinion dosen't change. It is not an easy process to go through.
