Newmar "hung wall"

Hi all,
Are there any other motorhomes made in the same way as the Newmar's with the non laminated hung wall design?

Hi 007,
I had read on one of the boards (not sure which one) that Newmar uses a hung wall design as opposed to a laminated or glued design. This is why Newmars don't have delamination issues.

They use one sheet of fiber glass as video shows but if water got in wall near windows not sure what wall would do.
Never had a problem to find out.

Hi Again 007,
Yes that is exactly what I was reffering to (that was a freat video). If you had seen the Ultimate Factories Winnebego edition on cable you would see a good example of a laminated wall. Sections laid out on large tables, assembled, laminated, and then attached to the motorhome.

Newmar doesn't use hung walls nor laminated walls. Newmar's walls are set on the floor.

I saw a brand new Mountaire with the left side panel flapping in the wind. Something came loose. You could stick your whole hand in it.

The side walls are set on the floor of the coach and glued to the aluminum wall/header/footer studs.

Newmars wall construction is considered " hung wall". Not 100% sure but I think every other manufacturer still in business uses laminated wall construction. Holiday Rambler used to be Hung wall, but do not believe they are any more. Of course Mr. Miller used to work for Holiday Ramber before he quit to start Newmar.

Here's a photo of Newmar's wall construction, and one of the determining factors in our purchasing the Revolution.

Make sure Fleetwood correctly calculates the CCC of your new Revolution LE as the 2008 & 2009 year models had issues.

Hi Imgoin4it,
Thanks for the reply. This is what I meant. I consider Newmar's "hung wall" construction to be superior to the "laminated" construction used by so many other manufacturers. When something is glued or "laminated" eventually the glue could let go or "de-laminate" causing wall separation. This is generally very expensive to repair and something I would like to avoid. Newmar's overall don't have this problem and about the only exterior house related problem would be the checking or cracking in the dark painted area's. The easy fix there is don't buy one with dark paint.

Hi JMonroe,
Anything built on the American coach line is definitely on my short list but even a good used one in the 2004 year range is probably out of my price range. I'm pretty sure that the Americans/Revolutions and the rest of the Fleetwoods are not built in the same way or on the same lines.
