Newmar Installed Microwave Vent?
Hi,
Anybody recently have an outside vent installed on their Microwave? Advantium?
Does it rattle going down the road or in winds when parked? I like the idea but not sure about the looks (picture) or potential noise going down the road or parked.
Any info on any recent experience?
If it is quite do you know howNewmar installs to make it quite.
Thanks

Hey Canuck,
I had a vent installed by the factory during the build, it works at designed for cooking. Going down the road it stays shut except when it is real windy, it will flap open and closed with a nails on a chalkboard noise. There is an easy improvement I found here on the forum to add a magnet but have not done it yet. Overall a good add to the coach.
I added my special's page below, let me know if you have any other questions.

We have a metal microwave vent on our Roadtrek and yes, it does rattle. It's irritating when you're within a few feet of it, further than that it blends in with the rest of the road noise. Maybe if the one Newmar puts in has a foam or felt seal it would rattle less.

Eric thanks,
Sounds encouraging. How does it look? Did you get a choice of covers?

Interesting, so by default there is not powered vent over the range exhaust humidity/smell?

Newmar Installed Microwave Vent?
Mine is not recent, but I have a 16 y/o factory installed exterior vent on the sidewall of my ‘02 DS. The original micro inside has been replaced, but the vent assembly appears original.
It does not rattle, leak, squeak, or whistle.

Yup 16 y/o as well, vent thru the roof next to the old fridge vent (Has back flow flap but otherwise same vent structure/same vent cap.)
Is standard equipment on our coach..

I have a powered roof vent right above the microwave/oven, so a rear vent would be redundant in my case.

We had an external microwave vent installed on the new King Aire we just picked up. The vent made quite a racket going down the road and even standing still if it was windy. Our tech fixed it by putting a strip of sound deadening tape on the flapper door. That made it a bit heavier, so less likely to flap. Just as important, it deadened the sound, so if it should flap, it just makes a quite thud instead of a loud metallic ringing.
We just drove over five hours on a windy day and didn't even notice it, so if it was making noise, it was so quiet that it is no longer an issue.

I had it added to our specials. It Carries a $430 or so MSRP cost. I think it’s worth it. It’s a very small indiscreet painted grill on the outside

I'm a bit confused. Are these vents you guys are ordering just to vent the actual microwave, or are these traditional over range vent hoods being vented to the outside, that sits under the microwave?

Not particularly attractive, but neither is the dryer vent, although this one looks even more industrial. But it is better than having the microwave blow the exhaust back in your face.
