Newmar Mountain Aire
I am in process of possibly buying a 2000 Mountain Aire model number 3780
V 10 Ford engine
I need information on transmission
Is it a Ford
Also like to have more information on the front end is it independent ?
I also had a water leak front right passenger side panel is down a little
This was fixed sealed by the antenna that was on top of Roof
It doesn’t look major does anybody have any idea if there’s any damage to worry about between the ceiling tile and the roof?
His class a motorhome has low mileage less than 10,000 everything looks brand new inside no other water damage.
Any information on this would be really helpful
thanks again wild 428

Welcome to iRV2.
The entire frame, suspension and driveline are Ford .
F53 being the chassis model designation , I'm not sure about IFS , but I'm sure another member will be along with that info.
I believe that the roof trusses in the coach are aluminum as mine are.

I don't always trust that images online are labeled correctly , but this picture of a F53 chassis ( supposed to be 2000 ) , indicates a solid front axle under the vehicle .

Unable to predict extend of water damage without inspection.

Has the RV been maintained on a regular service interval with records. Low hours on a generator can be an issue.

Responses in RED. I would hire a professional RV inspector to check all of the systems.
What is the DOT date code on the tires....no more than 5 years old.
When was the last service on the chassis?
Was it stored outside or inside?
Ken

I don't recall that the Ford chassis ever had IFS. Solid axle and they ride like a lumber wagon. But most gassers will be sitting on a Ford chassis.
Water damage can be tricky. What looks like a little can actually be a little or a lot. No two situations will be the same. If it leaked long enough that a ceiling panel is collapsing I would probably walk away. At a minimum, go in with eyes wide open and get a substantial discount for the damage.

Hi Ken thanks for getting back to me R. V. hasn’t been used for five years left outside and generator has 130 hours there was an issue with it running they couldn’t get it running again changing Starter cranked it too much waiting to see what happens tires have to be changed I know that as far as the roof leak doesn’t look that bad everything electrical is working not one of the issues will have to make a decision what to do
