Newmar paint checking

I'm looking at purchasing a new Baystar and I have owned a 2005 Country coach that had paint checking in the dark colors. I was wondering if any of you with coaches newer than lets say 2016 have any checking?

No issues with my 2018 Ventana’s paint.

thanks, it looks good and you have dark colors also. I'm hoping it's a old issue and it doesnt happen anymore on newer RV's.

It was a fiberglass issue that manifested itself as paint checking. That issue hasn’t been around in quite some time.

I had similar flaws with my 2022 London Aire. It was a flaw with the mold.

There are several factors that cause it. The historical issue early 2000s was a fiberglass that continued to cure and shrink, causing the paint to Crack. This was a fiberglass manufacturing issue and affected many coaches.

Newmar has a problem in their production where they apply silicone and sealants too early before the clear coat has cured. This causes pealing and other issues, but is evident within the first year.

If the paint looks good now on the coach you're looking at, I would think it should remain so with proper care.

Had that issue on my 2002 DSDP, but nothing on my 2015 DSDP, which also has dark colors.

I had an '05 DS and I did have checking. My '16 LA has been fine.

Had it on my 05 Newmar Kountry Star. Strangely, only on the DS.
